    1. Hello; You mentioned an engraved dagger. I would love to see it. Where did you find the Ehrenpreis? Is that currently available for sale?
    2. A Japanese floatplane launched from a submarine?
    3. It's up to 33 views, including me, but I don't recognize these items.
    4. Hmmm...I'll venture an opinion. I don't think the badge is period. It may be, literally, a museum copy. Made for the museum to go with the grouping. Can you show us the other items in the group? Maybe in the sixties when they assembled this exhibit for the museum the pilot group was missing the badge and the curators bought it to fill in Maybe when my new Imperial Sky book arrives I will see if this variant badge is mentioned.
    5. These are all great little groups to Tsingtau veterans. It is lucky for the current owners that I didn't have them under my gaze for sale at a show. They would have looked well opposite to my German Tsingtau groups.
    6. Off the topic of the thread but, this is a GREAT bar for a gent who was at the Tsingtau campaign (August - November 7th, 1914).
    7. Thanks. Very interesting.
    8. So, are the bars you are showing; 1) period assemblies, 2) outright fake/modern assemblies or 3) maybe period or maybe modern assemblies, hard to tell? This last medal bar seems too good to be true. The three major merit awards, a 1914 (or 1914-20) War Medal, a lot of pre-ww1 medals and finally a Victory as well. Quite a tight group!
    9. I especially like the Kite at the front! Does anyone have a medalbar with a 1914 War Medal in it?
    10. May I ask why you have an interest in Friedrich Chorus? Family member? Mentioned in a book you are reading? Or do you have a group of personal effects from him!
    11. For three weeks now I’ve been trying to find an invisible (to me anyway) enemy in my computer. With consecutive anti-virus scans I think I’m clean. However, some of my programs have been damaged and need to be either repaired or re-installed.

if it was a horse I could just shoot it...sell the meat to a dog food cannery and then get a new pony.

    12. Neat! I never heard of this medal. Is this considered a Japanese or a Korean medal? Please pardon the questions, I don't know very much about this area. Thank you for the education.
    13. Exactly. It is the Siege of Tsingtau that I'm referring to as verification that there were pilots in 1914 and they were even sent to the battlefield to reconnaissance and bomb targets. (I would add one more thing that they did; they drove off the German's aerial reconnaissance missions.) As you might imagine, I am interested in the Tsingtau theater and your thread gave me the impetus to ask what those Japanese pilots were wearing. If they were ready in August 1914 to go overseas (crossing the Yellow Sea) with the contingent of land forces they had to be trained much earlier. There would be at least one flight school in Japan and at the end of the course earned a certificate or technical rating to show proficiency in operating these flying machine. Thank you for your thoughts and your book suggestion.
    14. Hello Nick; Please forgive this question but; What was the insignia used by Japanese pilots prior to 1923 when this badge was created? I know there were Japanese pilots active in WWI and I am wondering what devices they used.
    15. "Munic stuff" ??? These are great bars. What I couldn't understand waswhy they were offered together. What commonality did they share? (other than frack and Godet) Thank you for showing them!
    16. If it is a Romanian award, the ribbon that would most closely match would be the; Order of the Romanian Crown -Type 2. A WWII award. The Knight's Cross came with crown and crossed swords. However, if the original ribbon bar maker didn’t have a Romanian Order of the Crown ribbon and he used Württemberg LS ribbon, he would have likely put a crown and crossed swords device to indicate the Order. (Another one like the one he used for the BMVKwS would have done nicely.) Furthermore, if a foreign award, even if a gallantry award, I would have imagined that he would put it after the Fatherland’s Ost-Medal. My conclusion is that the ribbon in fifth place, right or wrong, is meant to represent the Württemberg LS medal. Christer: From that short list of BMVKIII with Swords Landwehr recipients….can you see if they received any other (Württemberg) awards?
    17. Good, Good, Good. Thank for posting. Commander of SMS Vulcan. Great. Yes, there is more with the lot, but you probably can find more on him.
    18. Amazing work Haratio! You're not building a model...it is too good to call it that. It's a scale miniature. I realize you said that you excel at patience, but patience alone can't make quality work. This is a testament to your patience AND skill.
    19. That is great insignia they used for armored car units. Very unique looking. It’s a great example for that reason alone. As you said, the overall condition is lamentable and it looks like there was a device (or two?) above the armored car unit device that is missing. Thanks for posting!
    20. Hello Christer; The KVK after the Hindenburg Cross? The bar has a nice, with even soiling and wrapping that is thoroughly expected so it is with respectable hesitation that I dare mention having a black light shown on the back threads. Next I would carefully examine the hook for the pin. How is it formed? How is it attached? Although not conclusive, it would help to look for similarities and differences with known examples.
    21. Hello Steve; I'm sorry to say that I don't like the cross, certainly not the engraving. In my experience, this is just not what period cross look like. But you may be better served if a heavy collector of St.George Crosses would comment on it. You said you "had this for ages" How long ago do you estimate you had it? Where did you get it?
