    1. Must be for cadets... they rounded the point off so they cannot hurt themselves.... Yup... these navy folks have to be looked after....
    2. u-hum.... later today... or later this year I saw some really nice pieces in Turkey, lets see this one???
    3. And although it is a great book, the authors real service credits are very, very debateable.... great author, but so would sven Hassel have been if he had stoppped at his first, and best, book.
    4. I always thought the three grades were 1) fast 2) faster 3) fastest
    5. You mean you saw the photo of a latex clad Rick with a leather whip being pulled by 3 blond vixens wearing nothing but ...um... perfume??
    6. Ok, I go with general as well then... :-)
    7. Looks to be von Funeral ober arzt Dr. Med Schlacht
    8. Not having a horse in this race, I would say step one should be voting for a coordinater. Someone who has a track record of getting things done... and swinging the whip....
    9. A question.... does comparing a piece to another constitute a proof? If I post my Zink German pilots badge, XYZ his Buntmetal one and YWV his aluminium one.... Which one is fake?
    10. More important, have you had a beer out of it yet? ;-)
    11. I think those are the 4 classics, i had them as well ages ago. Really nice quality prints.
    12. I was very happy to see it go to a good home. I will be leaving for a month, when I get back i will see if its possible to get a phot of the grave and cemetary, or maybe someone can in the meantime. I think it is possible through the German graved site...
    13. Has anyone..... well you know ... ummmm.... drank out of their goblet
    14. Wow, I bet your father in law had a hard war. A pity it was not possible to find out more. Did you manage to find out info about the cemetary Beer was buried in? There is usually a way to get photos of the grave.
    15. Is this something legion condorish?
    16. Call me a dimbulb... I did not even know there were special Afrika/tropical trade badges!
    17. A brave man to wear that helmet!!! I would have thought folks in the region to snapshots at coal skuttle helmets without looking for badges painted on them. "Ouch! you bastid, you shot me! I am one of the goodies!!" "sorry, I say the helmet and panicked!!"
    18. Some folks have frustrating experiances with Ebay sellers.... but frustrating experiances with people are all over... If you collect standard awards and uniforms the prices may be high, but if you collect documents and things a little "off the wall"... then you can have some super buys..... Best Chris
    19. Hi, yup, it is one of the two non-family groups that I still have. It is THE infantry group for me ;-)
    20. Maybe it is a 3rd reich welfare medal and a small village tailor just slapped whatever swords he had in the box on... I will bet in a small village in upper silesia or lower bavaria noone would have cared what the local fireman/redcrossman/Luftschutzman had on his tunic. If it was a soldiers bar.... maybe then it would be more strict....
    21. I wonder how many forum members would make the "Gold".... at the moment I could MAYBE scrape a bronze... but I would have to put a chili pepper in between my butt cheeks before I ran....
    22. I must admit the fakes were a reason that I moved on, but another reason was looking at some photos of the cities in 1940-41.... they looked very much like the cities of today... for some strange reason I thought... its not quite "history" yet. In Imperial times with the funny moustaches, it seemed to be old enough to be "interesting". WW2 was recent past. I dunno, its a reason that is difficult to explain, but I saw local men with the same comb over, dandruff and probably 'rhoids as I saw in the 1940s party, SA and SS photos... and I thought... "this is not exotic, old or history..." Anyway, its a highly subjective view, so most collectors would just shake their head when I voice it, but each to his own....
    23. Guys, we have seen some nice variations here on the forum... I guess it needs no telling that they are needed for a project? How about a rough show of hands as to who has what and some pics to whet the appetite??
    24. By the way, did you see this quality piece ??? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12925
    25. A corny thought, but, boring as some folks may think they are.... the wound badge is really THE proof that you were on the sharp end of something nasty, more than any other bit of tin. Don, any chance of you spending the weekend doing 600 Dpi scans for Richard ? At your advanced age you had nothing better planned? Right
