    1. Good for him! Somehow the uniforms remind me of the older james Bond movies that took place down there... Connery days.
    2. That is an impressive lot, Are all named to the same guy? What is really amazing is when groups manage to stay together in a place like the Sudan.
    3. Actually a pretty neat idea... getting POWs to carry the radio ;-) Dont know if that would work nowdays...
    4. I have never seen this. I would always assume the SASC was attached to someone... hardly likely to go of waging war on their own... so SASC would have been (I would have thought) enough....
    5. I think I am not the only one waiting to see how this has progressed! :-)
    6. I really cannot think of anything official that matches...
    7. That is really fascinating !!! Would love to visit that one day.... Scary for collectors!
    8. I like that theory, mainly because my inly Iron Cross document to an Austrian is a man who did just that. But there was so much contact on the Eastern Front, it may have been an officer attached to a staff.... OR... just like tody when advisors or liason sometimes wear their own country uniform with host country rank... maybe this tunic was worn by a German attached to the Austrians? I think the possibilities are limitless.... Would love to see more of your stuff!
    9. On the other hand... maybe the fact that they are what they are... means that the assoaciation, designer, maker and seller could make such an impressive looking medal... When the state does it it looks like the Hindenburg Cross ;-)
    10. It is amazing how much cost and trouble went into that badge for what it actually was! A nice piece indeed...
    11. Hi Michael, do you mean the medals still visable or the ribbons in the last row? Thanks Chris
    12. Supr, i will try and get some variations up tonight. Have a letter from my wifes Great-Garndfather Who was the Divisions Arzt of the 6th LW Feld Division, he was really chuffed because the Divisional Doctors in the neighbouring divisions got the KVK1 and he got a Spange for his EK1... so much for the KVK ;-) But its an interesting field of documents.
    13. S'funny, this thread has become very interesting indeed, I enjoyed reading through... I now know that mervyn thinks the night hours are for bonking and Craig is a peeping tom.... I learn something new every day!
    14. it is a good question, but i think there is little information out there. There are similar awards for most regiments, this one just looks more official tham most. I am pretty certain this has no place on an official medal bar though. I have some to infantry regiments, I assume they were sold or distributed at the regiment during the 100 year festivities. I bet he put this on his bar in 1933, and by 1934 had been told to take it off.
    15. You really are ecclectic man in person! What a wonderful selection of ... well, impressive collections!
