    1. Hi, I have to look it up this week sometime, but it seems to have been a 200 man raid, Landwegr Infantry, members of SB16, Lots of MW and 8 FW. Will look it up soon. Absolutely nothing unusual about the doc. Teh Division approved the award. the SB16 had been acting under the command of the Landwehr Inf Regt 124... every thing is 100% Kosher in Chips description. best Chris
    2. Rare footage... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmApIMukbpU...ted&search=
    3. Hi, a few notes... There was no 16th Armee. The SB 16 was attached to Armee Abteilung B, formerly Armee Abteilung Gaede. 26th Landwehr spent the war in their sector. The GRPR or the SB16 COULD not award the EK, the divisional or Korps commander they were under was the level that could award the EK. It is quite simply a case of the 26th LW div awarding an EK to a sub unit attached to them for an action.... is seen in many, many cases. Nice find Chip !!!
    4. No problemo... watch this space... I have some time off this week and will get copies done. best Chris
    5. I think from the vies from the back by the "27" it looks like a stamping in thin metal....
    6. So, I assume we can say this is a Bavarian Freikorps member?
    7. "you listed very strong arguments, but non-NATO-sources state, that in spring/summer 1999 there had been some severe crashes of helicopters and aircrafts of the US-Forces, which happend "officially" in South America, Philipines, etc., but should have happened actually somewhere in the Westbalkans or in the Adriatic Sea." Do you REALLY think this is realistic? 25 men die, their families know they and their unit are in the Balkans... so do hundreds of comrades etc. etc... NOTHING is secret in the days of bloggers and internet... In this day and age, something like this cannot be kept secret. You are assuming that the hundreds of people who would know about it would never get drunk and talk in a bar, or brag to a girlfriend etc. etc. I think that is really on the Elvis at Burgerking level ;-)
    8. What is the quality like? COULD they fool collectors?
    9. So these are not for medals, but basically levels of achievent or traing? Best Chris
    10. "Now a Rittmeister der Landwehr-Kavallerie II doesn't seem like anybody's top list for faking, which is a good sign. " Agreed.
    11. what is the regt? Hard to read...
    12. I had a Peiper signed one as well, from just after Normandy. I think I got an offer of about USD1000 for it about 5-6 years ago. Hate to think what it would cost today...
    13. I would guess waaaay overpriced? The dream price of a local seller that has no idea of objective market value? I have found that when I travel to places sellers often make an insane price because they have 1) No real idea of value and 2) they think you are made of money. In Cambodia and Laos the local medals were almost twice the price of what they cost in Europe. Turkish medals in Istanbul can be way more expensive than the same medals in Germany. A south African antique dealer had SA badges for 3 or 4 times more than I can buy them on Ebay etc. etc.
    14. I had a Randall No1 for 5 years in the amry, a wonderful knif that could chop wood, slaughter goats and still shave your armhair off. By contrast, our bayonets were useless bits of crap. No good for cutting, useless for chopping, only good for mounting the gu?rd. admittedly on occasion to poke away a civilian or two that croweded a checkpoint or barrier... but more than that? Nada. it seems the M9 US bayonet is one of the unly ones worth a damn? Even the WW1 German Butchers bayonet is useless for chopping....
    15. Looks like a cloth/Bullion Glider badge, the one gull for lowest level with a wreath for the Solber-C... With the siver leafed wreath it should then actually have 3 gulls... And it is preeeetty big... maybe a fantasy version ?
    16. That is a nice find... and superb condition !!!
    17. Hardy has posted the Prussian one. I have meant to add one of those to the thread above but have had no time. In the thread there is also the Bavarian, Sachsen etc. All the best Chris
    18. Hi, there is a selection here... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12051 Best Chris
    19. Only natural... the guys have been collecting Mongolian for 10 or so years.... all of a sudden there is a new Forum... Then a mad scrambell while 5-10 guys post the results of 10 years of collecting over a period of two months........ After that... it is waaaaay slower...
    20. I think these were vietman era beret badges? I think i saw a pic of one being worn ages ago.. Of course, they are still made today and can be bought for more or less the same price as a set of para wings.
    21. Table of killed/captured pilots/soldiers during the aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Oh Brother...... Now here is a question... do you think there is any western country that could loose a helicopter with 25 men... and keep it secret? That a B52 would be shot down and a govt could keep it secret? There is no way to keep things like that secret.
