    11. I was given one by an American colonel once..... thing was, he was a collector visiting me to see my then WW2 german collection..... I assume the real meaning behind these is often lost... in a big way....

    18. Googling "MacQuiggins" does not get a single hit. "McQuiggins" gets only 4 pages from the whole net. Mainly seem to be Canada related.
    19. .... on the reverse of British medals..... Even if one collects brit medals with the intention of researching them.... one often forgets the detail on these awards....
    20. He served in the Rebellion and South West Africa beforehand, so there should be a card for SWA in the archives as well. Many English speaking South Africans transfered to the british Army after SWA and were commisioned, maybe that was the case with his brother.
