    1. This group, as well as the seller's other wares have been examined repeatedly and not one good thing has ever been said!
    2. I saw this one in Germany as well and thought it looked like a very nice 1.Klasse Star!
    3. Der General! Welcome to the Forum! Despite my (Truly) Evil Twin?'s admonishment........ darn fine Colonial Group!!
    4. We watchers are plentiful, but having nothing really significant to add..... If I post oos & ahhs it apparently irritates my (Truly) Evil Twin? who is still gnashing his teeth over my slightly larger post count. The thing I guess I'm waiting/hoping for is someone who can actually read the Uigar script to come forward, join us and enlighten us all!!
    5. There's an astounding number of bad (aka copy) EK1's in both 1914 & 1870 versions with the Deschler & Sohn stamp.
    6. Please see this post! http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?s=&showtopic=1...indpost&p=64391 Since I know who the seller is ........... I think we can safely discount this one....
    7. Nice document (Truly) Evil Twin?. Another piece he's been holding back on sharing. I know I will regret admitting this, but I actually like the academy badges. the pre-1960 ones are extremely well-made and quite nice with beautiful enamelwork and (primarily) in real silver.
    8. Hi David. I think you have a man's cross on a lapel/civilian bow. It's unlike any Ladies' Bow I've ever seen.
    9. I've never really understood this type of pin attachment. Seems like so many pieces to accomplish the simplest of tasks?
    10. Hi Mark, I don't think that's it at all. Most production (for lack of a better term) Imperial orders & decorations had corresponding ribbon made in 9mm, 15mm, 25mm, 30mm, 40mm. I think that we may eventually find out it might be a "nationalism" issue... maybe to signify the award to a neighboring Duchy member.. pure speculation on my part, but one that makes a modicum of sense.
    11. From what I have seen thus far, I don't believe there was a differentiation between "combattant" and "non-combattant". I think its' intent was more a "participant" type status, but the very late institution prevented it from being issued en-masse, as it were. I think exceptional conduct/bravery received a higher grade of award along the lines of the Carl-Eduard Medal, etc... Mark's group is interesting in that we have a S-C-G Medal mounted on a Sax-Ernestine ribbon. I don't think I've seen more than a handful of these mounted like this, but they absolutely occur in groups. Why, unfortunately, we'll never know. Was there some significance that's not recorded in statutes? Was it a "personal preference" issue? This remains one of the more interesting anomolies of Imperial era collecting.
    12. You'll have to excuse my (Truly) Evil Twin?.... he takes utter delight in tormenting us mortals with these subjects...
    13. So! Did you bid? Would they have awarded this medal posthumously? Thanks! Inquiring minds and all.......
    14. Claudio is correct..... the veteran's pieces don't show up very often, but many collectors shun them because of the "unofficial status"... the ones who don't, well they love them! Claudio's cased Bavarian set is quite unusual with so many present on the lower bar and very nice!
    15. Hi Pat, these are considered "unofficial", so you'll never find them in a Nimmergut's... there are people who collect these, but they're few & far between. There's not much demand and/or value to these except to a very narrow group of collectors. Nice unusual medal nonetheless!
    16. here's a variant you won't see too often! ;>)
