    1. Uff, sorry to say that, but in my opinion it is one of the worst fakes of Iron Cross 1st Class I´ve ever seen.
    2. Nice to see something about Austrian Pilot badges in english language. I hope the chapter about them is fat and rich. Best regards, Miro
    3. Hello, I think it´s typical Godet. I have only 1st class cross marked "G", but the core and frame is matching. Regards, Miro
    4. Interesting flaw on the 6 o´clock arm of the obverse (plain) side.
    5. Small ring is open on the obverse (plain) side.
    6. Although the obverse (plain side) looks re-blackened (I wouldn´t say repainted, but there is some strange extra material on it), the reverse is perfectly blackened with crisp detail of crown and letters.
    7. Maybe I am terribly wrong, but I believe this cross is OK. Not award era piece, but still 19th century cross.
    8. Interesting info. I googled that she doesn´t live yet, she died 1977. http://www.amitys.com/webtrees/individual.php?pid=I8204&ged=Gedcom.ged
    9. Going back to the mystery of post 136 in this thread. Seller gunjinantiques is offering on ebay empty case for Ko-sho wound badge 3rd type (I supposse), and there can be seen document very similar in the quality and size to the document found in my 3.1 wound badge case type. Seller claims it is "a period note warning to the soldier that extra special care should be taken with the badge and that it will not be issued again."
    10. Yes - as it always used to be - the most common answer is the most possible. Check this thread, Peter. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/3937-what-is-this/
    11. Honestly, I was also thinking about foreigner, let´s say chilean, already awarded at home, who volunteered for service in ww1 on german side and received german RC medal. But Frenchman, receiving Gallieni medal and from some reason also german red cross medal, patriotic enough to put his french award to the front, but not enough to order his button in France, but doing it in Berlin...? If there were only two possibilities, I would rather think about 80+ years old veteran of war with Danes.
    12. There was another type of "Hofjuweliere" button, used before 1914. Now I can´t quickly find separate photo, but it is that one on the left with EK2 1870 hanging on it. To answer your question completely - yes, we surely can discuss your type was used slightly sooner than 1914 (as I said before, I saw proof of slightly later usage than 1918) but I agree with Sascha, that it is still quite too late for 1848-49 war veteran. Although not impossible. 80+ year old veteran ordering new button is not pure sci-fi. For me is interesting that discussed ribbon on your mini is in the front. If it was foreign award, it should be behind the german award, correct me if I am wrong.
    13. This Godet Button (I mean the thread starter) is believed to be of 1914-18 production, although I also saw some weimar spange with this particular type. But nearly surely this is not prewar type. I personally own EK2 1914 with this knopf. Strange thing is that the ribbon on thread starter really looks like Schleswig-Holstein cross from 1850.
    14. Hello Bob. Check this thread http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=560 Regards
    15. It looks like good core of EK2 1914, Linasl, typical for CD 800 maker. It is very possible that the frame was dissasembled to act on some 1870 fake cross.
    16. Second one is thicker than first. This one is more typical to most Bavarian Napoleonic crosses I have seen. Unfortunately, this one is allready not in my collection.
    17. Thanks again for your attention, guys. I understand your thoughts, Claudius, it must be a very nice piece. I believe it - or very similar like this - does exist. Maybe we can divert this thread to the theme: Show your german medal bars with orange nassau included. I´ve found this one on the web
