Yugoslavia Order of the Republic with Silver Wreath.
Rogi replied to Georg14's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
I think it is somewhere, I'll take a look for the weight info. and if I find it post here, as for enamel, it could easily be an enamel replacement that wasn't done that well, although we have the luxury of passing on these orders and going to the next ones, sometimes the enamel is broken and people "fix' it rather than leave it be. -

Yugoslavia Order of the Republic with Silver Wreath.
Rogi replied to Georg14's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
The problem with lots of Yugoslavian orders is the countless varients, I believe that in this price range it is very unusual to spot a fake(but they are out there) Without the reverse shot of this order I would not buy it. The frontal shot is very crude as well and if this is a legitimate piece it is a very harsh striking. From just the frontal shot I would say to pass. You can probably find a more legitimate and nicer looking variant floating around, you just have to keep looking. This looks more like a 3rd class, re-gilded and tried to pass off as a 2nd. To my knowledge, 5 and 6 torches were all gilded silver (2nd classes), none were tombac or metal in this era. (even most without hallmarks are silver)the only ones in Tombac that I know of are non-Yugoslavian varients and 6 Torches, most are occasionally in Milosevic era. but this is a more recent awarding group pre dissolution of the Government and only a few have been seen on the market, mostly of other orders, but this is getting into other details. Hope that helped a bit :) -
Serbia Order of the White Eagle with Diamonds
Rogi replied to utopis's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
It was listed before the weekend and looks very interesting. I inquired to the asking price and it is enough to purchase a house enough to place your orders in :) -

It almost looks like someone tried to make a "Fantasy" piece for that Games work place (not sure if we are allowed to say the actual name) fantasy tabletop battle thing. Probobly for their "Marine" outfit or something, it looks exactly like the "Imperial Eagle" from this table top gaming thing. -

please help identify this badges from North Koreea
Rogi replied to dodyory's topic in South East & East Asia
Left one is Chinese I have no idea what it says. Right one is Korean Script. It says 모범 In this context I think it means Exemplary or Best, the usual translation for 모범 is Model. From the look of the photo it could be a Best Rider badge or something similar. -
I agree, but I think that it would spawn some debate on whether or not people should collect militaria in the first place. Anything even remotely similar to the topic and it usually gets people talking about collecting. The down side is that those people that are opposed to collecting orders and medals, never seem to meet (or even listen) to people that enjoy it and do it to commemorate the Veterans and the history of these recipients that served. I'm sure if we brought a bunch over to the forum here and explained our points and why we do it, that a lot could change but then I'm getting off topic Stricter laws on wearing orders and medals - yes (but not restricting people wearing items they've earned, ie not having every Veteran file a request with their gov. to wear something they've earned, even if the Nation they earned it with is not that friendly with their current nation)

The U.S. Only really has issues when it is the MOH, other orders and medals it seems are passable to a point. In terms of owning etc, not wearing them I think any order or medal in which the country doesn't exist anymore could in theory be worn as jewellery pieces. There are some celebs that get away with wearing stuff that is still issued now a days (Serbian Order of the White Eagle anyone? , Russian Order of St. George etc)

Canadian Beret
Rogi replied to jonsey2001's topic in Commonwealth Realms: Canada, New Zealand & Australia Medals & Militaria
Yes, or similar to Cadets, it really depends on what "Scout" they used as variation. Usually Canadian Scouts don't carry or shoot weapons for the children's organizations. Just make sure to double check, this could in all possibility be some Military group within Canada too but the Scouts Canada really makes me think Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts style
