    1. Croatian and Yugoslavian Dobro Dosli Comrade! Watch the Yugoslavian section I'll have a nice post up in the next couple of days Regards, Igor
    2. Serbia and Greece both have Orthodox style crosses so its very close All the area's religious crosses and symbols all have similar looks to them so it can get very confusing
    3. Its pretty sad, but I agree with both of your comments 10 years ago while I was a child I would of disagreed, but I've been in situations where family called, I ended up giving them away (the old "guilt" trip) and a week later I see the item on our local auction site..so sadly I've learned that.unless I get documentation of these items being what they claim to be (stolen, lost in time etc etc) I'm holding on to my pieces or selling them at what I paid, fair and square for everyone, then if you want to sell them onward in the future, good for you. egh anyway so many situations to ponder on and different actions, that this could go on for ages
    4. I've heard of this practice too and was really displeased to hear about it (the receiving a donation and then selling it some time or immediately later). They should receive permission from the family before selling such things, I'm sure if she knew the Legion would sell these items they would not have been donated in the first place. The whole thing with donating is giving it to someone who will cherish it. There are many many more ways to raise money, unfortunately way too many organizations are asking now a days and it is hard for people to know what they are donating for (and who the good organisations are). Are we donating so they keep their doors open a couple more months longer and then sell off all the stuff? This is a common dilemma for people. What to do with items that mean something historically, yet the fear of it being sold at a later date.
    5. He will always live on this forum in our memories. His tragic passing only reinforces the need for further information being uploaded on the forum, although his primary avenue was Imperial Bars, he also had a vast knowledge on Soviet Orders and Medals. The problem with a lot of forums out there is that when someone attains a document, medal, order, we are sometimes afraid to post it online, afraid of a negative reaction, what others might think or say. With experience and guidance makes more members feel more open about sharing a part of their collection. I will always miss Rick immensely and I remember the times we talked about Soviet and Imperial German Bars greatly, I am so glad and fortunate that I was able to talk and discuss with him certain issues and matters that pertained to the collecting community He is a Legend
    6. Wow That seems a bit too high for a St. George, or is there something I'm missing? (awesome citation, made of platinum? etc ? )
    7. Rick was a true friend and a shinning example of what a true researcher and collector was. He valued pieces for their history and not their price value. Every piece was priceless to him. His aim was to further everyone's knowledge and helped many many members find missing recipients to their bars. He always gave his vast knowledge to the forum and was an outstanding member of the community, a true Legend I will greatly miss his discussions on the forum and over private messages, I count myself very fortunate to have known him, even for a little while after his return. He was a true friend to me and fellow collector. Rick now has access to any historical figure up in heaven Thank you Rick for the wonderful memories you will always be in our thoughts. Rest in Peace my good friend. My condolences to his family. Igor Kabic
    8. Very cool They all look like bad ass guys, each one could probably star as a "Terminator" very very cool
    9. Nice it reminds me a little of a Yugoslavian/European influence on the eagle, I like this new one a lot
    10. No problem at all, I forgot to mention it is the Romanian Order of the Crown Officer Rank (it says right on the box but just in case )
    11. Your Romanian Award is King Michael I Period (the big MI on the case gives it away He had two periods that he reigned from: 20 July 1927 to 8 June 1930 and 6 September 1940 until 30 December 1947 I believe Your order was handed out during the second, so that might help a bit Sorry I can't be of any more help I'm a noobie at German and Imperial orders and medals
    12. Lol some museums trade things like trading cards, they "catch em all" then any duplicates they trade If my children are not into history when I have some one day, I'm donating this collection to a near or dear family member who does
    13. Wow Thank you for sharing this amazing feet with us That is one expensive and historical bookmark I wonder what book it was found in
    14. Can you post this in the Cuban section please, someone there might know ? It was lucky for me that I browsed by here or we wouldn't of ever seen it
    15. Which imagine is the lion? If it is the one I am thinking of, it looks like a woman's portrait to me (very last image)
    16. Imagine It turns out to be like some French butter knife or something non-Military I would laugh, then cry If it was a Montenegro Dagger that would be a great find
    17. Exactly its a risk, only someone who actually owns a "true" one can tell you The other people that can't afford a risk (like me ) just run away when you can't be sure :S and even then...
    18. It looks similar to an academy badge to me, maybe another country, Bulgaria, Romania? I double checked the books and we don't have that kind of eagle in Serbia.
    19. It is similar to the Serbian Eagle, but I don't think it is Serbian :S I'll check one or two of my books.
    20. That is excellent Paul So good to hear man, you always hear about the stuff getting split up but its nice to see this go to a good home where it won't be split
    21. It does indeed look like its broken off, but what could it be
    22. It should be in the Yugoslavian and Serbian orders and medals book, I've seen a couple variants of this one in there. Just have to fish it out wasn't sure if it was all croat since they have a very similar design on one of the Croatian medals.
    23. I'll check my book if you give me a couple hours to update have to dig it out
    24. It looks like it has the Croatian coat of arms, any luck on getting a closer picture of both sides?
    25. It might be one of the academy badges, they had some similar to the St. George. I'd try looking through some of them first. I'll have a look and see if I can find anything.
