    1. That's got that certain something to it Chris, I can see why you kept it. If you did sell it however..............
    2. That's not his armchair behind him, it's a small child deeply alarmed by his lack of medal coordination.
    3. The cased Klein and Quenzer looks absolutely fine to me. I don't have a picture reference for the screwback Maybauer sorry. Cheers, Glenn.
    4. Very sweet Greg. I'm just trying to get back and caught up online after a forced absence. Nice to see the old cross fanatics never grow weary!! Best, Glenn.
    5. Oh this is EK porn for me!! Without doubt my favourite manufacturer. Can't resist these.
    6. Looks good to me. Has that nice amount of wear and aging to give it character. Great first EK1 Joel, thanks for sharing. Glenn.
    7. Some crosses develope a really attractive patina, whereas to me some don't. Dependant on the silver. I have been known to polish but only where I think it detracts from the cross. I purchase based on the quality of the core details and the constuction of the frame and attachment device. So I'm largely a non polisher with a tendancy towards the occasional guilty rim job! (Mrs R would be so proud)
    8. I reckon that's the mistake here. I'd be tad miffed once the auction ends to find out I'd just bought the worlds most expensive case!
    9. Yes Micha, I think so. Can't recall the core details on mine now but thats the pin.
    10. Nice Chris, pin looks identical to a 935 I used to own. Also heavily vaulted. Never worked out the maker of that one. Had the same profile and flattened end to the pin.
    11. Wha a really simple and effective way to convert an EK2 into an EK1. It would very efficiently get around the problem of securing it nice and neatly and securely to a breast pocket without the usual splodges of solder and scraps of metal. I like it. Logical and cheap way to quickly effect such a modification. I've not seen one done this way before but I would be quite happy that it was period.
    12. Rare variants and in particular anything engraved keep me busy these days.
    13. Personally the cross looks fine to me. Don't see any obvious problems Danny.
    14. That is a very nice cross Steve, AWS has always been a weakness of mine too. I think it's probably already too late for you now. In my experience once you've got the stage of being interested in maker marks and variants you are stuck with the EK malaise. Fear not though there are plenty of us to support each other.
    15. The bargains are out there, just a lot less than there used to be. Nice find Micha!
    16. I agree. Leave it as found. As with any antique item a repair would alter it's authenticity if not period done. Cheers, Glenn.
    17. From the photographs the insert looks to be original to the case and of a period type pattern. I wouldn't like to comment on the age of the case though, not seen one before. Cheers, Glenn.
    18. Female flying nurse who won the cross single-handedly piloting a zeppelin whilst performing a tricky operation? Maybe?
    19. I'll answer to pretty much anything Rob!
    20. That's a nice start to a imperial EK collection. Welcome to the forum, look forward to your participation here.
    21. Werner and Sohne, Berlin as Ekhunter states and a spot on example. Always desirable and nicer in the hand than this pic suggests. I love 'em. I had one with a fluted pin once but have not seen another since.
    22. A lovely cross. The paper with it lends a great feeling of history to what is usually an anonymous award. Thanks for posting!
    23. A nice honest piece, thanks for showing.
    24. Welcome Zook. Look forward to your contributions.
