    1. Guys, This is a sad group of documents in two ways, the scale of family tradgedy involved and the what appears on the face of it someones attempt to enhance the 1944 book (award entries versus letter from unit)? I have noticed that sometimes the pictures post arse about face order wise if so start from the opposite end, sorry!
    2. Odulf, unusual since it has been printed in reverse!
    3. I kind of like the general look of it, I would out of curiosity put a UV light over the piping and collar boards and arm badges. I have seen a lot of these sort unissued and only with the breast eagle applied before (1990s). What do you think about it, are you happy with it?
    4. Got that Kev, just glad he got the chance to be a gunner(LOL)!
    5. Paul. Yes that was his final rank, all is now clear (see pic) when one reads his trades, looks like he started as a 'bleep' and then became a cook, he probably qualified for enemy awards?
    6. can you not buy it for the sum of the parts if you have doubts or would that not be your thing? If you do that then you can't be disappointed down the line?
    7. Guys, This Gunner managed to stay the course with his main unit as such until his death in the run up to the BB? I am sure it states Eifel as the area where he was killed.
    8. Guys, Nothing fancy, he starts out as a driver and is later transfered to arty.
    9. Guys, Book to a young lad that seen a bit of action around the end. Kevin, I can't find GEB 452? any thoughts? Lexicon has 451 & 453?
    10. Eric, What is with that bigger than normal mess tin? I remember seeing similar on a horse at the begining of the film 'The Longest day'. When 'Goldfinger' is riding up to the bunkers? I have never seen any others like it until now.
    11. Jerry B is clued up on the allied side, perhaps he will know?
    12. Chris looks like he remained Inf in background but did a stint on the Special reserve when he was cabbaged no doubt (see scan). He also spent a coresponding time in hospitals.
    13. Guys, I had this one to look at before and it is unusual in that this young officer appear to have been in the thick of it but only got EK2 as his highest award. It seems he was shot once then had a bought of Influenza and malaria, recovered from that and was then fragged twice. This has led to 26 as a code entry and I expect his nerves were a bit shot after all of that, I wonder though if this 'LMF' as it may have been percived prevented him getting an EK1 awarded?
    14. Guys, Took a day off but a pal that is switching focus came up with this lot. I think he wants items that display well rather than laying in a box as he put it?
    15. Guys, I am sure these must be quite hard to find just because of what they are made from? A lady visited my wifes shop in Bergen and stated she had a few of these left, found in the cellars of the old slaughter house when they bought it, she went on to tell me there were 100s of these but luckily she has converted them all into plant holders and sold them over the years? These are all that she could find still intact. There must be some quite attractive plant holders out there! I did see evidence of them all around her property, gutted!
    16. Guys, I suppose this belongs here. A late Christmas present from a girlfriend of my wife!
    17. I think the clear picture of the reverse is very useful, I had not noticed the promenant cut out at the 3 'o' clock position against the opposite side before, sad but true but the reverse seems to speak more than the obverse these days?
    18. No your reply never came off that way it is just that I know I will never make it in PR, thats all, so to head off any missunderstanding I made above post. I think you know I admire your ability and am even envious of it. I wish I could be as good at something worthwhile as you clearly are. Please don't go cutting off any apendeges, you will need ears to hear with, fingers to paint with, ect... LOL.
    19. His ribbon bar looks like an old boys from the first war, to be honest I can't make it out even zooming in except obviously EK2 at the start. Perhaps you should post it on the Imperial subsection as these guys will likely pin it down?
    20. Too be clear, I was in no way implying that you would do this as a fraudulant endevour, anyone that takes the time to read your threads can see quite clearly what you are about. As Jerry says, as it stands it is what it is. I would only add that with a bit more devious work it may become more, that was all. I got a bit of a hard time for suggesting the same thing to a Polish bloke that was producing 're-enactmant' leather gear, it was in its produced state quite cleary new but it was as it should be so a couple of re-enactment years later in all weathers you would have a quite plausable fake. He went kind of quiet as I think I was too vocal but if his intentions had been entirely honourable then why did he go quiet? he would not reveal haw many he had already made and sold which I thought was quite interesting, anyway I digressed and this is not anywhere near the case.
