    1. HI Paul, After the war, Büchner fought against the Spartakists, he made a reconnaissance flight over Leipzig and his plane was his by groud fire and he died of the crash of his plane on march 18, 1920 Christophe
    2. I have got in my collection one ribbon bar, not Büchner, but similar to his bar, one pair of Leutnant aviation shoulderboards and one iron cross 1st class. So here is the "famous chest" : Christophe
    3. Hi everybody, Here is a very nice card photo of Leutnant Franz Büchner showing his new Pour le Mérite, his ribbon bar, the iron cross 1st class and the pilot badge. Franz Büchner was born in 1898, he was enlisted in the IR 106 as a volounteer in september 1914. Wounded in 1916 he joined the air service after recovery. He then became a pilot in March 1917. With a lot of victories, he was put at the head of the Jasta 13. His first victory was on August 17, 1917, but the confirmation of the victory came two months after, so the second plane he shot down was confirmed first (October15, 1917). For that he received one month later the Ehrenbecher for the first victory. If someone wants to know more about this officer, Neal O’Connor has written small story in the third volume of the Aviation awards of the Imperial Germany pp. 145-147. Büchner received the following awards and badge. Knight cross of St Henry : 07.10.1918 Knight cross 2nd class with X of Merit order of Saxe : date unknown Knight cross 2nd class with X of Albert order of Saxe : 26.04.1916 Iron cross 2nd class : date unknown Knight cross with X of House Order of Hohenzollern : 20.08.1918 Pour le Mérite : 25.10.1918 Iron cross 1st class : date unknown Pilot badge : September 1916 Ehrenbecher : November 1917 If someone has got more info about him, thanks for sharing them with us. Christophe

    5. This morning I have just received this nice photo of General Karl Leimbach (1854-1921). It takes me a couple of hour to identify him positively. This photo has been taken between 1901 and 1904. Indeed, in 1904, Leimbach received the officer cross of Albert without swords. 6. Impressive group you have found there. I've found him easily like Paul, Here are some dates of awards Waldeck cross 4th with X : 24.12.1914 Oldenburg cross with crown and swords : 18.02.1918 Knight cross 1st class with X of Saxe Coburg Gotha : 29.06.1918. In the Rangliste from 1914 there is no mention of the Saxe Albert knight cross 2nd class niehter for the Waldeck cross 4th class. he sould received both just before the war between June and July 1914. Christophe

    8. Hi Paul, Congrats for your job, very interrsting story. Christophe
    9. Hi, Can you confirm that the SV3 is tfor the ist class and the SA3 is for the second class ! If so it will be very strange. If the SV3 is for the 1st class, I don't understand why he received the 2nd class for the SA3. Christophe
    10. Hi Daniel, Here is another officer who received the HHO3X : Saxon Oberleutnant Diedrich Bischoff from FAR 77. Here is a close up of his ribbon bar Christophe
    11. Hi Chris, here is the link about Rittmeister Rose http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/36517-bavarian-officer-albert-rose-with-coburg-medals/page__hl__%20rittmeister%20%20rose Christophe
    12. Thanks Matt, I knew that this photo will interrest you as there is Hanseatic cross there It can be the Waldeck cross, indeed this name does not appear on the rolls First time when I had it in my hand I thought, this ribbon is the hanseatic cross of Hamburg, but after doing scan it appears that swords are here. Thanks for your help Christophe
    13. With my first research it appears that his name is not in the Saxon Merit Order list. It is the same for the Hohenzollern knight cross. He should received it just at the end of the war, that's the only explanation. Christophe
