Hello , I dont think so , It was not before 1884 that Carl Peters begun his explorations of east Africa ,in 1888 a reichskomissar was send with a mercenary force to East Africa and in 1891 was created the Schutztruppe. whose askaris weared the eagle on the fez . but if your great uncle remained in Egypt after 1882 or returned or went to British East Africa after 1891 or to zanzibar may be a connection

Hello, According with the regulations , German officers weared private tailored tunics either manufactured by specialized tailors of the Civilian or regimental ones . if dont exists in Berlin the equivalent of Saville Row ,existed perhaps more militay tailors .In wartime many alteration took place. and specially after 1916 . the quality of the cloths varied widely . many times the same cloth was used for officers and men Blusen alike . otherwise many senior NCOs and inclusive OYVs used to wear officers type tunics privately purchased .

    8. Their are men of a Saxon Regiment . Probably of the 108 th Schutzen Regiment . one man wears tschako , the uniform colour was dark green with black collar and cuffs all piped in red . They could be also of the second saxon jaeger bataillon both units were stationed in Dresden

Hello , I am not totally convinced that the helmet is a modern one . some of their details looks as oldtimer. the interior lining as example.but the badge not. and certainly the cruciform base of the spike appears to not fit well. regarding value , go to Ebay .under the entry Home service helmets for sale.

    12. Hello Ian ,Perhaps your badges were not carried on the uniform .Postmen and other employees usually carried a leather made wallet or pouch ,to put into the letters and telegrams. perhaps your badges were affixed to the lid of these items.

Hello , the first man wears on the collar of his greatcoat the doppelitzen, double lights of Garde and some technical troops . the number 267 on his SBs ,marks him as belonging to Reserve Infanterie Regiment 267 a unit raised in 1914 from the Infanterie Regiment 14. but the uniform dont carried litzen . the second man ,seated ,must be a vizefeldwebel , he wears leggings and officers type peaked cap and leather gloves.

    18. Ostprussenmann , The Order of St Joseph ,was certainly a Order of the Great Duchy of Tuscany, In 1859 was supressed by the provisory government of Tuscany . But as the Order was Heraldic Patrimony of the House Of Habsburg lorraine Tuscany. continued to be conferred by Ferdinand IV Great Duke of Tuscany In exile ,until his death in 1908. Since 1971 a descendant of Ferdinand ,Gottfried, reconstituted the Order.
