I love this documents. This one is out of the group of Lt Richard Hentschel (29.12.1897) from IR 134 and later observer with FA A 281 and FA A 276Lb. He received the MStHO as company leader of 8/134. He was at the age of 17. Later he received the AO knight cross 2nd class with swords (30.03.1916) and the VO knight cross 2nd class with swords (15.09.1917). Regards Alex

In my oppinion not a Meybauer badge. To many details differs to the known original Meybauer badges. That don't makes sense for me. I know one Meybauer airship badge marked with maker mark but looks different to this one. Could this be a later piece, maybe from the 30s? Possible but I don't believe. Why came all this questionable badges without any references to the owner. I would never buy any unknown or questionable badges without any reference. Regards Alex

Hi Paul, I think this is a great idea. There are some new material since this book cames out and I consider it worth to be mentioned on a reprint of this volume. I still consider O'Conner books is the best source about the german aviation. Let me know if you start working. 1. I would buy a copy 2. It depend on the quality of the print. You got it. The first badge was a badge for qualified pilots. The second one was a commemorative badge awarded to former pilots / observers after retired, if they fullfilled the requirements. Regards Alex

Thanks Dave. I agree with you on the first two ribbons, also on the last two. Number 4 could also be a German ribbon, like the Heasen AEZ. On this picture he is an Olt, therefor he was an Lt prior his service on turkey. He wear the German observer badge. He had to be an officer when he started training as observer. 1. Iron cross 2nd class 2. Oldenburg: Friedrich-August-Kreuz 2nd class with class 3. DA 9 (?) 4. ? 5. Turkey: war medal with clasp 6. Turkey: liakat medal Regards Alex

I need some support to identify the ribbons on this ribbon bar. The guy on this picture looks to be a german officer who surved for the ottoman air service. He wear the german observer badge, ottoman aviation badge, iron cross and the wound badge. On the right chest the ottoman war medal. So far so good but what does he wear on the bar? can someone identify the clasp on the ribbon for the war medal? Regards Alex

Vizeflugmeister wore the same uniform as an Flugmeister. On the visor they wore the same patches as the officers. I think this is the only difference between Flug(ober)meister and Vizeflugmeister. Look at the picture of Vizeflugmeister Klotz I attached. regards Alex

Smooth landing at Ghistelles. Admitted to hospital.
