    10. Is this any help Chris?
    11. Tony very interesting! I think the guns would have used 250 round belts with probably two belts per box (500 cartridges) Belt size seems the norm, box size can however vary. Regards Eddie
    12. Hi Sergio, I can confirm what Mathomas stated about the symbolic satellites, see the images below. Also a further variation on how the class shield is fixed on the reverse. Regards Eddie

    16. Hi Hugh, Thanks for the response. My understanding is that as part of Operation Vulture, which would have been a USAF operation, one of the options was the use of tactical Nuclear weapons so they would not have been handed over to the French directly. I dread to think of the further consequences if such an operation had taken place. Regards Eddie
    17. Dien Bien Phu: Did the US offer France an A-Bomb? is the title of a recent BBC article on the web. Apparently one of the options concidered while planning Operation Vulture was the use of 3 small tactical nuclear weapons in support of the French. http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-27243803 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Vulture

    20. Hi Paul, Not sure if this helps, part of a forum post says: ''Is your Philippine Insurrection medal the Philippine Campaign or Philippine Congressional? If it's the Philippine Campaign, it needs to have an "No." prefix in front of the serial number to be traceable. If the medal has an "M.No." prefix or no prefix before the serial number, it is not traceable''.
    21. Hi, Uniforms were introduced at Basil Dean's behest as he was worried that if the artistes were captured they could be shot as spies (a very real posibility). The uniforms consisted of standard pattern battle dress and any standard war theatre uniforms such as Jungle Green bush jackets or Airtex. The only insignia allowed on the uniforms was the standard ENSA shoulder titles. Although not having any rank, all ENSA performers were granted officer status so that they could use the mess facilities. The only artiste never to wear uniform was Tommy Trinder who, when it was put to him, said "if I get captured, I deserve to be shot!" E.N.S.A (Entertainments National Service Association) members were entitled to be awarded the Defense Medal. Dame Vera Lynn recieved the Burma Star In 1985 for entertaining British guerrilla units in Japanese-occupied Burma. She was also awarded the War Medal1939-1945. Here is a few images of ENSA uniforms. https://www.pinterest.com/paperdolls1/ensa-wwii/ ENSA cap badge and Dame Vera Lynn with her Medals Regards Eddie
    22. 29 April 2014 Last updated at 08:43 GMT A British Army dog killed alongside her handler in Afghanistan is to be honoured with what is called the highest military award for an animal. Sasha, a four-year-old yellow Labrador who was trained to hunt out explosives, is credited with saving the lives of scores of soldiers and civilians. She will be awarded the PDSA Dickin Medal, which the charity says is the animal version of the Victoria Cross. She died alongside L/Cpl Kenneth Rowe in a Taliban attack in 2008. Sasha was deployed with handlers from the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, attached to the 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment. Alongside her handler, she was tasked with carrying out advance patrols to find safe routes for soldiers and sniffing out weapons and IEDs. The PDSA said: "Sasha's determination to search and push forward - despite gruelling conditions and relentless Taliban attacks - was a morale boost to the soldiers who entrusted their lives to her weapon-finding capability. "On one occasion recalled by regimental colleagues, Sasha was searching a building in Garmsir when she detected two mortars and a large quantity of weaponry, including explosives and mines. "This find alone undoubtedly saved the lives of many soldiers and civilians." In 2008 she was assigned to 24-year-old L/Cpl Rowe and the pair were considered the best in the Kandahar region.
