    1. I don't Know whether it still occurs but one year representatives of the Zulu nation would go to Brecon for a good knees up courtesy of the regiment another year members of the regiment were guests of the Zulus. Paul
    2. Thanks Owain, good old Misr as found on the Ottoman coins. Paul
    3. Does anyone know what is the significance of stamped figure 3 between the dates? Paul
    4. Yes Sagongs is his site. For those who are interested in the medals and decorations of South Asia, especially the Indian subcontinent, It is probably the greatest repository of knowledge on the series. I have been a member of the forum for 11 years. Paul
    5. Difficult to be certain Kris but I would have thought about 300 euros the pair assuming the enamel on the reverse is not damaged. Paul
    6. Very nice, interestingly West made the insignia of the Order of St Patrick. Paul
    7. Frank, I agree with you totally, as general comment on all orders and medals, if metal content and weight were given in standard references it would make things somewhat more difficult for the forgers. Paul
    8. Yes Frank that's correct, although I am not sure whether the pre-mutiny pieces might be higher. Paul
    9. May well have been in the merchant fleet prior to the great war. Paul

    14. Worrying but hopefully those would not get passed me, compared to some of the fakes I have encountered these are amateurish. Paul
    15. I get quite paranoid these days about high end Soviet to the point of wondering whether any of it is genuine and unfortunately it's going to strangle the market to death, much as happened to the Imperial German market when the Blass fakes started to swamp the market in the 70s and 80s. Paul
    16. The only dubious certificates I have seen are the Russian museum ones and if they say something is genuine it is almost certainly fake and vice-versa. Paul
    17. I think Umberto's collar was awarded both as sovereign of the kingdom of Italy and exceptional services to moustache cultivation. Paul
    18. They are a gift from one sovereign to another and therefore are not returnable on the death of the recipient. They only ones that might be a bit tricky are the German WWI forfeits, I know of a couple in Germany but I am unsure what the ruling would be were they to appear for sale. Paul

    21. For late unresearched pieces people are not going to pay a great deal more than that, I would reckon $30 is the wholesale price, any profit on that is good news for the seller. Paul
