    1. And here is the backside of the Cross All the 1918 crosses where made in Germany by the firm Otto Oerthel in Berlin so the work is of classic high quality
    2. Now this beautiful order have arrived , it is really super. I bought it right from the family and the seller said it belonged to Wilhelm von Essen who was an officer in a artillery regiment during the 1918 war. He was awarded the Liberty Cross 4th class , but I have no information about it being a Cross without swords, but his brother Einar was also awarded a Liberty Cross 4th and then wo/s so probably this is his brothers cross. Now I have to go out looking for a Liberty Cross 4th cl with out swords 1939 which probably should be easier because there where awarded about 5 times more than the 1918 one.
    3. Here is a new piece to my collection , a Liberty Cross from 1918 a quite common order if it wasn´t for that this one is for non fighting merits . Only 256 was awared so its quite rare. Here is sellers pics , I´ll post better ones when it arrives . All the best from sweden Christer

    6. Hi Detlef , You always find very interesting bars ! The combo looks alright to me, quite unusual but possible . The last medal should be in third place , its the order of Estonian home guard if I´m correct and the medal missing in last place should be Finnish Com medal 1918. But if that Liberty Cross 2nd class is real Buy it ! Christer
    7. Hallo Jnowotny , Great to find a relative to the great pilot ! It would be nice to know if you can find something about a Finnish award All the best from Sweden Christer
    8. I know it´s a small and quite blurry pic, but I thought I should share it with you anyway. The photo shows a young Sailor probably with his mother, I think he is a Matrosengefreiter Artillery ? and ha has been in some action ..... EK II , EK I (cant be very often a ordinary seaman got an EK I ? ) Wound badge , Minesweeper Badge , High Seas Badge. And I think I can see a Shooting cord also on his left shoulder. I wonder what ship he was on a survivor from Bismarck ?? Well he could be from almost any surface ship I suppose but the thought is thrilling at least. Nothing written on the back so we will never know the story behind this forgotten soldier, another mystery photo in my collection ...... Christer
    9. Very nice ribbonbars ! But again to no 24 , what is the third ribbon ?? Christer
    10. Ohps, you are right Martin NCOs , dont know how many officers there where on a ship like this ? Maybe this is all the NCOs ombord ? Christer
    11. Wow , Post No 19 was a real mystery , I would never had guessed on a life saving medal to a Prussian and in a not "normal" Bavarian unit Sometimes the answer hide behind some ordinary ribbons ... looking forward to the Schwarzburg Rolls ! Thanks Dave

    21. This is my latest object to my collection , and what a wonderful Order I really think these could compete with imperial German in Quality Liberty Cross 3rd Class 1939 for non combat , they are really rare to find and the numbers awarded is FEW believe me This is the nicest I have seen ever its like new , given to a Swedish who probably put it in a drawer 1939 and looked at it from time to time ..... Christer
    22. And here is a tragic story .... Albrecht Simmerling in IR 92 sent this Photo of himself in full uniform to his friend Walter van Hus 30th Sept 1914 , he was then a Kriegsfreiwilliger and maybe he saw the war as an adventure or just something that had to be a part of. He didn´t last long February 5th 1915 he was listed as KIA another young man buried in the mud of Flandern Fields.....
