Wow! What a bar! Who did this belong to? The number of foreign awards is mindblowing!

Yes! A nice GL uniform! Czech converted garment. I really love the detail on the KVK without swords emblem. -
German Cross in gold medal group

What a grouping! This man is a hero. Did this come straight from the family? -
That looks like one of the books out of the John Angolia series on the KM. I do not have this series. I only have Heer and Luftwaffe. "Uniforms and Traditions of the Kriegsmarine." It is out of print, but still available online. Even used copies demand a premium. I'd keep an eye on Ebay. https://www.google.com/search?q=Angolia,+Kriegsmarine&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjIm821qvnNAhVEJx4KHa76BbMQ_AUICCgB&biw=1366&bih=599

Display of the Month
Paul R replied to Paul R's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
The past 30 days, I displayed my two Generalluftzeugmeister sets. The first is from a converted French overcoat. These were among the most common uniforms for these men early in the war. The service caps are made specifically for this organization and never had the national eagle. The second tunic is a converted Czech model, redyed LW blue and a standard LW EM cap. The badge, often mistaken for a visor insignia, is actually a breast national eagle. There is no evidence whatsoever to support this organization's use of a visor cap or this insignia on any headgear. I am still trying to determine the waffenfarbe system. I think that these were the only two colors and they may be specialty or rank based. -

More great bars. The firefighter's set is very nice. -
What a lovely set! I am most envious! I am curious about what the research on two bravery medals will reveal. This will determine my take on the set.

Price for Red Star for Afghanistan

You did the right thing. It was a "deal" for a reason. I think that you dodged a bullet here. What was the citation on the catch up award? What was it awarded for? -
Soviet Order of Lenin Type 5
Paul R replied to WJT's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
I am actually amazed at the velocity which Soviet awards are falling lately. What drove them up to their previous heights to begin with? -
Those are some outstanding bars. I like the rescued three row Air Force bar. Are any of those mini's named? Like Chris, I think that the US/British medal bar is something special. I've never seen anyone who actually served in two different countries wear them on the US uniform. Foreign awards received while in the US armed forces- yes. But not award received while in service of another country. Regardless, it is a really interesting set.

When I complete school, I will be able to be more active in this area. As you all know, I am taking my MA in Military History. I've written a bunch of research papers to this date. Do you think that sort of thing would be too dry to post here?
