    1. Yep... "Gay" is the word to describe it. Is this the Air Force uniform? Where did you find the vomiting smilie? I like it a lot!
    2. I know Ed... I really like that photo a lot. If I were still a single man, I would make a blow up poster out of it... You are right... the photos in the link are very hideous. However, I did not see any tassels! lol
    3. That very word crossed my mind when I read in the initial post, "Well for Russian soldiers the time has come to hang up the furry hat and replace it with one pointier and sleeker. Jacket pockets are out, and shiny tassels are in. The regulation olive colour is so 2007, and now its all about aquamarine and little white gloves." Ed, are there any links to the proposed uniform designs? I would like to see too! I thought that by the subject title, you were referring to something like this photo(Thanks for the photo, Bob Lyons). Now THAT is sexy!!! Notice where the cameraman is shooting!
    4. Lets see your medical reserve tabs! Have you ever seen an admin example?
    5. It looks more like veterinary or OKW(there were NCOs in the OKW).
    6. Hi Lorenzo, I did not bring back any extras. I will be holding on to my flag and modest medal collection. Hopefully my kids or grandchildren will be into them! Regards Paul
    7. This stuff is better than any U-Boat badge! Can you imagine the things these plaques witnessed? They were definitely fixed to the Uboats because the holes seem to busted out, like they were ripped off their fittings. Perhaps they were removed from replaced equipment that was removed during repairs??
    8. What rank did you make before getting out? The rank tress looks like the exact pattern as Luftwaffe(but in green)... perhaps the same maker?
    9. Very nice! I really like the early signals NCO straps a lot. The piping on the tropical straps look weird. Is it a twistcord type of material?
    10. The colors do look really close. If it is a set of the ever so illusive Veterinary EM/NCOs, I would expect to see a carmine color as seen with the General Staff officer. Now members of the Luftwaffe Judicial Corps were given the status of "Officials" and wore the LW Admin Official Style of insignia. According to my references, there were NCO level Officials. In 1944, when the TSD Judicial Branch was established, this was open only to Officers.(TSD Judicial Officers wore the standard style of LW collar tabs and shoulder boards with a wine red waffenfarbe). I do see a difference between the two shoulder straps. IT could be something completely unreferenced, but it could also be a strange variation in the dye. I would definitely keep them, but I would have in the back of my mind the possibility of them being Flak.
    11. Those are very interesting... They look more bright red than carmine, but still a weird shade. I do know that carmine is a tough color to capture on a photo/scan. Can you please make some closer scans of the piping?
    12. Thanks for thread!! It is always great chatting with anyone with interest!
    13. The shoulder boards were the same as the Active Duty component, except for the addition of a blue middle layer.
    14. Yes! That is a nice Luftwaffe Reserve Flak Leutnant tab. These are not exceedingly common, but not considered to be very rare either(at least not the Flak or Flight examples). Before the war, the Luftwaffe had a Reserve Officer program. Just about every Luftwaffe waffenfarbe(except Hermann Goring- as far as I know- and Field Divisions) had a reserve officer component. The blue piping is what distinguished the Reserve Officer from the Active Duty counterpart. Here are some examples... I know that Gary B has a set of Reserve Medical Officer tabs and Gary 9 has a set of Reserve Construction Officers tabs Here are mine... Reserve Flak Oberleutnant Reserve Flak Leutnant Reserve Flight Hauptmann Reserve Signals Leutnant
    15. The green stuff looks exactly like copperoxide. It appears as if the EK2 was stored in direct contact with something copper for a really long time. I look forward to hearing from the Iron Cross Specialists.
    16. So most people who deploy to combat zones get all three?
    17. What does this medal commemorate?
    18. Were occupation medals tyically given to WW2/Korean vets? How much time would one have to spend in Japan to qualify for it?
    19. It is an EK1. Can you please post some clearer pics of the two sides?
    20. Very nice, Chris. Are the Overseas and National Defense Service Medals always awarded together?
    21. Do you think the veins could be oxidation under the paint?
