      That is an interesting photo. It looks as if he needed a uniform in short order. The straps are the ones used on the Summer white uniform, right? Interesting how they are attached by the button after being passed through a slide for the slip on boards.

      The Marines do allow for the Viet' Nam Service medal, awarded by the ARVN as well as the host of foreign awards from Desert Storm. The 5th Marine Regiment and the 6th Marine Regiment of the United States Marine Corps were awarded the Fourrag?re for having earned the Croix de Guerre with palm leaf twice during World War I.

      That is amazing!! Do you still have photos of this? How was it verified that he was in the Union Army. Was he serving our Civil War as a German Advisor or as an American?
