    1. This Achievement Medal grouping was to a contemporary of mine, from 1999. It was awarded for his retirement award. He retired as an HS2, after 20 years of service.
    2. Thanks to a forum friend of mine, I was able to acquire my first British Officer's uniform. This set includes what you see here, along with a set of trousers and three cloth belts with brass buckles(similar to the buckles on the leather Sam Brown belt I chose for the photo). The only things missing are a tie and the low quarter type shoes. The trousers are named to an H. Fletcher. How difficult will it be to research this man? There are a few alterations to the uniform, where his waistline seemingly grew a bit during his service time. As we can see by the ribbons, he must have served his entire career in India. He did not receive either the Burma or Pacific Stars. Thanks to my wife, Hoyden R., for taking these photos for me.
    3. Most impressive! We do not see such uniforms become available in the US.
    4. It looks like the key to spotting the fakes is all in the type of enamel used.
    5. The National Defense Service Medal was established during the Vietnam period between: January 1, 1961 – August 14, 1974. You would have been covered for your period of service. Were you Navy or Coast Guard? The Navy Expeditionary Service Medal is the only one I can see that is marked. It is the (V) for Volupte. Ironically, it is a high quality strike, whereas the others are not as well made.
    6. I have not checked. Where will we find the markings? On the ring?
    7. Thanks all. Hugh, which medals did you get for the Cuban Missile Crisis? The Navy Expeditionary Service Medal or the Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal? I would have figured the Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal to have been related to Vietnam(service in Taiwan or etc). Were you in the Navy or Coast Guard? Yeah, the price was too great to give up on, especially since it was Coast Guard.
    8. I just picked up this 1970s-1980s medal bar! Although it is not named, it is a really cool combination of awards for under 20 dollars. I hope that you all like it!
    9. But how many people fit this criteria in that one year? The bulk of the military were non career folks. IT would mainly be the 1% that stayed to make a 20 year career, right?
    10. So individual units paid to have their own documents drafted and printed?
    11. Those are very nice medals. What types of ribbons did these medals have?
    12. Nice! So these are pretty rare. Someone had to meet all of those criteria during specifically 1996?
    13. Nice combination of screw back awards!! I bet they looked really cool together, on the tunic. What did he do to get the ORS? Poor guy was cursed.... extremely high performer who could not keep out of trouble.... unless he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar(stealing?).
    14. That is really nice. I am surprised to see the lack of standardization in these documents. I take it that they were not printed by a government printing office or that the printers were given a lot of latitude with creativity?
    15. Another great set Sergio!! I would love to find one of these documents as well.
    16. I dont know if they are faking these, as I do not see the profit potential in doing so, but that one on the left is of horrible quality.
    17. I would love to see your collection of orders and medals. I have a few really nice Soviet orders and medals groupings as well.
    18. Hi Sergio, I love large orders and medal groupings as well. I have a few, but the really nice ones are too much money for me to afford. Thank you Igor!!! I love this stuff.
    19. That is really something. I had no idea the French were on the Russian front during WW1.
