    1. The part that alarms me the most is that the auctioneer stated that the sock came just UNDER what they expected it to do... in other words, they actually thought that it would bring in more money that that? !!!!?
    2. Thank you all for the positive replies. I have a thing for the decal'ed M42s as well. It is my favorite pattern of helmet.
    3. I do not know of any instances were LW medical units were attached to Heer formations as a primary medical support component. Before the war, most folks who were in the military at age 40 were career military with many years under their belt. I do not think that there were any new recruits of that age who were accept into the military. During the build up, I feel that they were accepted under limited circumstances, if they met the physical requirements. Most folks of this age were accepted as Officials, if they had needed specialty training. Is there anything more you can tell us about him? Do you know his LW rank? Do you know about any of his awards?
    4. That is really something. I would love to find one such grouping, one day. Did you research that last one?
    5. Oh they are... There are some really dangerous fakes out there. These days, we collectors really have to specialize to prevent getting ripped off.
    6. Crap!! What a story. I am surprised that they would fly over a ship doing target practice during time of war. Can you research the name on your medal?
    7. That is one heck of a career. Almost 30 years. Can you please post a photo of his items onto this thread, to keep things together?
    8. Have you tried here: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/britisharmysoldierafter1913.htm I definitely look forward to seeing what you are able to find. Do you have any of his old documents, uniforms, medals, and etc?
    9. Hi Rob. Thank you very much for posting these buckles. It is interesting how the later version is of better quality and detail than the earlier two. I am also surprised to see that they are still using aluminum for buckles. I thought that this stopped by then.
    10. This is some "Smithsonian" level stuff here. Thank you for sharing this set with us. Do you have your sight on any of his other items?
    11. I am very interested in seeing the rest of your collection as well. Air Traffic Control stuff for the LW is not easy to find, but not that impossible either. IT is a great looking color though.
    12. I think that it is in great condition, especially since it has been under the sea all of this time. Which destroyer was it on?
    13. I am not a specialist on these shields, but I would think that the originals would have more details in the features. I am not a fan. I now standby to hear what the more experienced folks have to say.
    14. Those are very high quality items there. Can you please give us a little background on the veteran?
    15. That is a beautiful hat. I really love the bright green waffenfarbe as well. In my area of collecting(Luftwaffe), the waffenfarbe is used by the Air Traffic Control and Airfield Security. These photos are a bit small. Can you post some bigger photos? How many caps do you have now?
    16. That would make for a great citation(dentist that takes out 20 Germans with his PPSH).
    17. This is the first dental officer grouping I have heard of. How did he get the Bravery Medal? I would assume that this one required some sort of Combat action. At minimum, he would also have Japanese and German Victory medals. Lets see the awards!!!
