    1. German and English titles are not directly comparable. Consider the titles Freiherr, Reichsfreiherr and Baron, all used coincidentally in Germany.
    2. I'm glad you chimed in, Wild Card. I have a couple of Brunswick Waterloo medals, and based on their condition I was sceptical as to authenticity, but apparently they were commonly dug out of graveyards where they were buried along with the recipient, and both of mine have what looks like damage from a shovel! Pretty ghoulish stuff.
    3. There is a guy in Germany who constantly lists blatant Imperial fakes on US ebay, and they appear to sell all the time. Drives me nuts.
    4. Given the circumstances of this auction, I would say very likely all are from the same individual. From my own personal experience, my uncle had multiple examples of his badges for wear on several uniforms. Too bad about the third badge getting away, it is a rare variant. In any event, a great pair.
    5. As I mentioned on the 'other site', these badges are very scarce, especially attributed examples, so a great find. I am also a bicycle collector, so I'm sorry I missed this auction.
    6. Hi Scott, These are a bit of a minefield and have been heavily faked. Looks like period replacement suspension. I get a good feeling from the patina on this one. There are some serious people over at SDA who could give you some info on the recipient. As for value, in this condition it's a bit of a guess.
    7. I read about this over at SDA, simply outstanding Schnalle with great history. And don't show this bar to Claudio......
    8. I would be very sceptical that this Kette belonged to Mandt, not enough unique orders on the chain, and why would he retain a RAO4mdK on a WW1-era chain.
    9. I agree, and the EA Cross is one of the most heavily faked of the EK equivalents.
    10. If that Ordensschnalle is NOT a Frackschnalle, why is the precedence all wrong?
    11. I had noticed that, an unusual feature. Apparently Jordan did not continue with the military. Here's a couple more photos. The HOH is marked for Sy & Wagner.
    12. OK, I'll get some more photos. The fob is Ukrainian, so must have been a souvenir. The small sword was a student's presentation piece and is engraved to Jordan. Chris, along with the sword the combination of awards is unique.
    13. I've been reorganising after moving earlier this year, and thought this group might be of interest. It belonged to Major Jordan of the Landwehr-Fussartillerie and came out of the woodwork years ago from the USA. Since Jordan died in 1945 in Thuringia, I believe these items were souvenired by US forces prior to the area being taken over by the Soviets.
    14. LOL, I tried to assemble a complete collection of EK1 equivalents and just about went broke when I got to the Wilhelm Ernst War Cross, then I gave up.
