    1. Thanks Steve. I actually had a cased Poellath pilot which I found in a Bavarian town in 1979. It was mint and engraved on the reverse with the pilot's name, squadron and date of award. I paid about 50.00 for it. Unfortunately it is long gone, and I wish I had taken pictures of it, it was stunning.
    2. That's too bad. I've sent it back, and the quest continues. In five years I've only been able to snag one genuine Poellath badge.
    3. Christoph, that is another real beauty, congratulations. I have a real soft spot for these trapezoidal bars.
    4. Chris, looks like an interesting combo. I would do it according to statutes. I've done a couple of medal bars myself, so if you need help, drop me a line.
    5. Thanks for the feedback, Don. It closely matches the one at the end of Baldes' Bavaria section. I sent detailed scans to Ferg, and he's wary of this one, possibly a late strike. In hand it feels very convincing, but I'm going to send it back, since I'm looking for a good piece from the award period.
    6. Comments welcomed on this one. Pin replaced with a screw-disc attachment and post device behind cross of crown.
    7. Great stuff, Claudio. I really like the von Epp Max Josef, interesting that it was gifted by Neal O'Connor. As for marches, you can't beat the Radetsky, my grandfather's favorite.
    8. It is a relatively scarce award, and sought after on medal bars, but they don't command the sort of money you'd expect. Still a nice piece.
    9. Thanks for clarifying, Claudio. I have a picture of Wilhelm wearing this Schnalle, and that makes sense.
