    1. Very nice!! The only I have ever held was to a American/French/British Ace (his nationality depends on the time period) ACE that fought for the white Russians.
    2. I agree with Chris, With that many setups, pants are going to be a nightmare. If you are set on doing a full manequin, then you can allway get some nice repro pants as a "stand in" for the time being. German field grey is expensive, and well faked. Make sure you get some opinions on whatever you want to buy. --the 1918 should be fairly straightforward. The most expensive things will be the tunic, the cammo helmet (get a good one, it will totally bring out your display), and the grenades. The other equiptment wont be too bad. --the 1914 will depend if you want a matching field grey cover to your pickelhaube, and what kind of unit you want. If you want standard prussian line, it will be costly but not prohibitive. If you want to go something like GdC, it will take a while and be expensive, very expensive (although it should hold a good value for you) There are quite a lot of imperial collectors here. Get opinions on everything so you dont kick yourself later on. I went with what Chris did, full up torso displays with one or two full manequins. Fortunately for me, I collected American uniforms, to which pants are fairly easy to find (boots however...).
    3. Really interested in your findings Robert on the Turkish badges at the Lafayette Foundation. I think one may be legit, while the other is not in my opinion. However, I am thinking the latter is probably a replacement piece from the pilot later on in life. What were your thoughts?? Does your book go into these badges in detail?
    4. Hi Chris Thank you for the info. Do your Private Messages not work? I wanted to send you some info. This uniform group, if legit, would be perfict for your collection
    5. Chris is there a way to trace a French enlisted/NCO/officer's service record for WWI? I am following a uniform group, where the soldier might have fougth and been wounded at Verdun in 1916. If I can find the service record, I can be sure. Please PM me if you can.
    6. I would be scared to touch a RK document after the whole Petersen delema. Someone out there is makeing great copies (not saying this one is, just that the fakes are really good) I am surprised the Romel documents didnt sell. Perhaps there was an after auction offer for it.
    7. Hi guys!! I will post the whole collection in a little while and some better photos of the badge. You guys are mirroring my sentiments. I think something is off with this group, and not just because of this badge,
    8. Back and makers mark. The mark is, as far as I can read : "Werner & Soehne" -- now this is either a maker I have not heard of (which is possible) or someone misspelled SOHNE. I have my opinion
    9. Hi all. I wonder if I could get some help with this badge. It came in a grouping in a local museum. The grouping is supposedly to a pilot who was shot down near American lines during the Argonne. The group contains many items, including this badge. The group has been together since the late sixties--(so the story goes) I have my own thoughts about this badge, but I wanted several other opinions before I let the owner know my thoughts. Photos to follow:
    10. Another option is to check the publication histories of Cross and Cockade/Over the Front/ and Windsock. There are many articles done in the past 50 years on German pilots. Ask also at the AERODROME forum. They might have information on a certain individual or series of articles
    11. I have to agree on this. I think that is why some of the "dealer gods" are switching, or at least getting into auction formats. Auctions bring out the spirit of competition just like any sporting event would. You can make a lot of money if two people are intent on getting the same item. I've seen this for other pieces as well. It would appear that medals are particularly vunerable to this as certain makers are more desirible/rare than others
    12. OOOO!!! So many good WWI books are out/coming out. It is hard to keep up. How is this one??
    13. Any news when this is coming out? I pre ordered, and thought it was supposed to be shipping early June. Anyone heard anything different?
    14. Very nice! these things come up so seldom it is always fun to see! Any name associated with this item?
    15. The site looks great!! Hopefully with the summer coming I will have more time to get on and participate, rather than just being my normal troll :}
    16. Cant wait for this book. Even though I dont collect IC/PLM, Stephen's books are still some of my favorite reference materials. Looking forward to this
    17. Yeah I was assuming that What kind of shots do you need? This, unfortunately, was the only shot I was given, I will take more when I can actually see it
