Bernhard H.Holst
Hi Can anyone tell me what the letter is before G.G. ? Thanks Chris Hello Chris: three possibilities: I, J or L. However to me only I or L can apply namely: IGG for Infanterie Granat Geschoss (rifle grenade fragment) or LGG for leichtes Granat Geschoss ( light artillery round fragment ). I hope this helps. Chris Boonzaier
Hi, I think the GG is Gewehr Geschoss, but that fits with Infanterie gewehr geschoss?

Chris Boonzaier
Hi I just picked up a tiny diary, about the size of a matchbox, where someone wrote 10 small pages... I can pick out isolated words... but this one is not easy... Is it a terrible shorthand? Is it worth trying to translate ? Can anyone figure it out?? Thanks Chris

Bernhard H.Holst
Hello Chris: It seems to me to be more of a notebook with notes during a course i.e. the role of a squad leader and other matters reviewed or taught during a course, here probably for a N.C.O course. Lack of time prevents me from commenting further. Bernhard H. Holst

I can pick out isolated words... but this one is not easy... Is it a terrible shorthand? Is it worth trying to translate ? Can anyone figure it out?? Thanks Chris Chris: This one is bad news. I am unable to enlarge it via Print Preview. And just as you state, just able to decipher certain words and those confirm my initial belief that these are notes during a leadership or such course. Bernhard H. Holst
Bernhard H.Holst
Hello Chris: Ref. # 59. Some words make sense. It also appears , as you have mentioned that some Shorthand or the writer's own symbols were used to abbreviate the contents. I would guess that if shorthand he would have used more of it. Marcin L
Finally I have found this thread. It's really good to have you all here :-) I have this letter and can't read most of words ("festung Belfort" is however clearly visible) . Can anyone help? Kind regards, Marcin
speedytop
Hi Marcin, Meine liebste Maus! In Liebe tausend Küsse, Dein ..... Uwe
