Wild Card
Dear all,I'd like to contribute with a close picture of the clasps of Ramsauer's China Denkm?nze. The "spange" in the middle is an unofficial one.Gentlemen,Claudio?s comment, above, raises a question, at least to me, that a couple of previous posts were working towards. Specifically, were there ?official? (issued by the government) bars to this medal, or were all bars, as in the case of the 1870-71 war medal, private purchase items; and as such, unofficial? If there were, in fact, ?official? issue bars, could someone kindly point out which of the already posted examples would qualify?Thank you,Wild Card
Rod
I just talked to the seller of my above medal who says he sent me a non combatant by mistake. Nothing was said about how it got the "gilt" finish...... Anyway, it is being returned.Rod

Only the medal itself. It was the same like 1870-71, for GSWA or the colonial medal. All bars had to be purchased.Bernd

Claudio
@ Wild Card: I thought it was un-official clasp since it was not mentioned in the Nimmergut's Magnus Opera... Interesting that all these clasps were privately purchased and pratically there was no control on those from the authorities which awarded these Colonial medals!Ciao,Claudio
Rod
Here is the combatant mini (I love them) that I just received. It was advertised as gilt bronze and looks really good to me. The relief is much much finer and better made than the full size medal (with the non combatant reverse) that I showed above and have since returned.Sorry for the poor scan, but it is the best I can do.Rod
eitze
If there were, in fact, “official” issue bars, could someone kindly point out which of the already posted examples would qualify?Hi,Gert Efler wrote in his booklet "Der Feldzug in China 1900/01", that these unofficial bars could be bought from dealers in the old days:- Tschang-tsch?ng-ling- Tonku (also: Tongku)- Chouchouang- Kuant-schang (also: Kuan-Tschang)- Nan-Hung-Men (also: Nang-Hu-Men or Nan=Hung=Men)- NankuantoPerhaps there were more - who knows ???greetingseitze
HeikoGrusdat
one more point...... there were not only "inofficial" clasps..... there were also "completely private made" clasps.... don`t know how to call it ;-) look here... got it on a bar from Tony Colson 10 years ago...now somewhere in the world under the pillow of a thief bastard
Marcin L
Hi All, As I bought my first Boxer Rebellion document, I would like to ask kindly if you have any idea where I can find the order of battle of 5. Ostasiatisches Infanterie-Regiment. I would also like to research Major v. Freyhold, who signed the document, but for now I know he was with GR7 before he moved to 5 Ostasiatisches IR. Can anyone recognise the place where the document was signed? I can't :-( Kind regards, Marcin
Guest Rick Research
Easy to understand why you missed the place. It isn't there anymore.... That was signed aboard the steamship (Dampfer) "Neckar" 2., 3., and 4./ OAIR 5 all took part in the battle of Kitchou under major v Freybold. They had no other battle bar entitlement that I know of. Chris Boonzaier
I took the liberty of editing the titel, although it is my first one as well. My only one, 4th Company, 4th regiment issues in Port Said, I assume on the way home...
Marcin L
Chris, not a problem re change of title. You have a nice docs too - I think it was signed by Major Mülmann from 3. Ostasiatisches Infanterie-Regiment. Best, Marcin
