Wild Card Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I have posted this bar before, but for the benefit of those members who may not have seen it -
CRBeery Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Here is a bar to a gentleman that may have served under Wild Card's guy.
Naxos Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Very nice, Gentlemen - keep the Rot-Gelb coming
CRBeery Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Not a medal bar but still OK. Named here to von Beck.
Wild Card Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Really nice bars there CRBeery, and your ribbon bar, identified no less, is super! Here is my other one -
Naxos Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) Here is my other one - Beauty! ... is there a name on the back of the K.F. Militärverdienstmedaille? Edited October 17, 2011 by Naxos
Wild Card Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Thank you Naxos. Yes indeed there is - L. Rau. This medal was awarded on 8 January 1871 to Gefreiter Ludwig Rauch of the 3rd Infantry Regiment (in) acknowledgment of outstanding bravery on 18 December 1870 in the battle at Nuits.
Naxos Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 I found him: Gefreiter Ludwig Rau (not Rauch) Gefreiter Ludwig Rau served in 11th Companie, 3. Baden Infantry Regiment His name was printed wrong as Ludwig Rauch on page 31 of the Badische Staatsanzeiger from January 1871. On page 201 of the Badische Staatsanzeiger there is the correction of his name as Ludwig Rau (not Rauch).
Wild Card Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Wow! How very interesting. Thank you for this additional information. I think that the confusion stems, in part, from the fact that there clearly is a period (.) after the RAU on the medal. Again, many thanks - the learning process never ceases. Wild Card

Wild Card There was a Rauch as well but his first name was Friedrich and he was awarded the civilian KFMVM Edited October 17, 2011 by Naxos
