christerd Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 My latest find , the ribbon bar of Erich Rothardt , Kdr Magdeburgischen PionBtl 4 Kdr Ghzgl Hessischen IR 116 Kdr IR 343 Kdr Reserve Inf Brigade 87 Does anyone have any more info about him ? I think he also hade a RAO II with swords and of course EK I Christer
Paul C Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I think he had a KO2x rather than a RAO2. If he has the RAO2 then his ROA4 would not be on the bar. How did you trace to bar to him?
christerd Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Thanks P.F That confirm he had a KO2x instead of the RAO I thought I have him as an Major in 1913 with RAO IV and DA And just as I wrote this a got a fantastic help from another forum member Here is his career : Born Feb 25 1863 Leutn Sept 16 1885 OberLeutn Sept 14 1892 Hauptm Jan 27 1900 Major Jan 27 1908 Jan 1911- April 1913 Kom Pion Batl 4 OberstLt April 22 1914 PRAO IV , PDK Nov 20 1914- March 1 1916, Kom d Inf Rgt 116 Oberst Jan 27 1917 March 1917 PKrO2 m Schw Christer Edited January 21, 2014 by christerd 1
freiherr Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Here's a blurry one from Die Woche 1917 http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=180541&p=1650849&hilit=warburg#p1650849 Cheers Elwyn
christerd Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Thanks Sachsaw and Elwyn , What is the title of the pic in the Woche ? " For the capture of bridgehead of Tobol" ?? I know there is a river named Tobol but was there fights in WW 1 so far east ?? He has the rank of Oberst in the pic so it is later than Jan 27 1917 , and if my information is right he was then Kdr IR 343 and IR 343 was part of Inf Brig 172. Great picture ! Christer
freiherr Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 The caption said Toboly which looks like is located to the NW of Kovel. Jürgen Kraus's Handbuch d Verbände u Truppen d Dt Heeres 1914 - 1918 has IR 343 under Inf Brig 172/86 ID mid 1915 - early Jan 1917. For a few days 11.02.17 - 15.02.17 it was detached to 1 Ldw ID. So GenLt Sachs in the pic was indeed Oskar in his capacity as Kmdr 34 ldw Inf Brig under 1 Ldw ID. Cheers Elwyn
christerd Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Aha , Thanks Elwyn So now we can date the picture rather exact Its always nice to add a history to a single ribbon bar Christer
Deutschritter Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 (edited) Thanks, Gentlemen! Künker writes him Rothard (https://www.kuenker.de/de/archiv/stueck/239891), now I know it is Rothardt. Too bad, no source can produce a death date. 16 September 1885 Sekondeleutnant (2nd Lieutenant) 14 September 1892 Premierleutnant (1st Lieutenant) 27 January 1900 Hauptmann (Captain) 27 January 1908 Major 22 April 1914 Oberstleutnant (Lieutenant Colonel) 27 January 1917 Oberst (Colonel) 30 September 1919 Charakter als Generalmajor Prussian Centenary Medal 1897 (Zentenarmedaille) Red Eagle Order (Roter Adlerorden), 4th Class Prussian Long Service Cross (Dienstauszeichnungskreuz), 1909 Iron Cross (1914), 2nd and 1st Class Brunswick War Merit Cross, 2nd Class (BrKr2/BrK2) Hessian Bravery Medal (Hessische Tapferkeitsmedaille; HT) Mecklenburg-Schwerin Military Merit Cross (Großherzoglich Mecklenburgisches Militärverdienstkreuz), 2nd Class (MMV2/MK2) Hamburg Hanseatic Cross (Hamburgisches Hanseatenkreuz; HH) Military Merit Cross (Austria-Hungary), 3rd Class with the War Decoration (ÖM3K) Prussian Order of the Crown, 2nd Class with Swords in March 1917 Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer There is also a Rothardt, Ernst, Generalmajor ... does anyone know anything about him? Therefore my question: Was his first name maybe Ernst, not Erich?
