Kriegsmarine Admiral Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) Another interesting admiral. Since he was the Adjutant and Hofmarschall of Prinz Adalbert, he received many decorations. Please help me confirm the awards he is wearing on the photo match the ones listed for him in the Rangliste. Awards from the 1914 and 1918 Rangliste: -Eisernes Kreuz (1914) 2. Klasse -Königlich Preußischer Roter Adler-Orden 4. Klasse mit der Krone -Königlich Preußischer Kronen-Orden 3. Klasse -Königlich Preußisches Dienstauszeichnungskreuz -Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse des Großherzoglich Badischen Ordens vom Zähringer Löwen -Offizierskreuz des Herzoglich Braunschweigischen Ordens Heinrichs des Löwen -Ritterkreuz des Großherzoglich Mecklenburgischen Greifenordens mit der Krone -Komturkreuz 2. Klasse des Herzoglich Sachsen-Ernestinischen Hausordens -Ehrenkreuz 3. Klasse des Fürstlich Schaumburg-Lippischen Hausordens -Ritterkreuz des Königlichen Ordens der Württembergischen Krone mit den Löwen -Kommandeurkreuz des Königlich Belgischen Kronenordens -Ritterkreuz des Königlich Dänischen Dannebrog-Ordens -Ritterkreuz des Königlich Italienischen Ordens vom Heiligen Mauritius- und Lazarus -Kaiserlich Russischer St. Annenorden 3. Klasse -Kaiserlich Russischer St. Stanislaus-Orden 2. Klasse -Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse des Königlich Schwedischen Schwertordens -Kommandeurkreuz des Königlich Siamesischen Weißen Elefantenordens Around the neck: Top: Johanniter-Orden Bottom: Komturkreuz 2. Klasse des Herzoglich Sachsen-Ernestinischen Hausordens ??? Medal bar: - Eisernes Kreuz (1914) 2. Klasse - Königlich Preußischer Roter Adler-Orden 4. Klasse mit der Krone ??? - Königlich Preußischer Kronen-Orden 3. Klasse ??? - Ritterkreuz des Großherzoglich Mecklenburgischen Greifenordens mit der Krone ??? - Königlich Preußisches Dienstauszeichnungskreuz - China-Denkmünze in Bronze ??? - Königlich Preußische Kaiser Wilhelm-Centenarmedaille 1897 1: Königlich Preußische Erinnerungszeichen zur Silbernen Hochzeit 1906 2: To me this looks like the Offizierskreuz des Königlich Sächsischen Albrechts-Ordens mit Schwertern ??? Is this correct? It's not listed for him in the Rangliste. 3: Johanniter-Orden 4: Is this the Ehrenkreuz 3. Klasse des Fürstlich Schaumburg-Lippischen Hausordens ??? Around the neck and under number 3 we can see the Johanniter-Orden. On his german wikipedia entry it says: "Haxthausen war Rechtsritter des Johanniterordens." Can anyone confirm he was indeed a Rechtsritter des Johanniterordens or was he an Ehrenritter? Many thanks for the help! Edited March 2, 2020 by Kriegsmarine Admiral
GdC26 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Focusing on the numbered awards, the identification of 1, 2 and 3 strikes me as correct. Not sure about 4, though, given the round shape of the center - could 4 be an officers cross of the wuerttemberg crown instead? kind regards, Sandro

But the class should then be the Ehrenkreuz, there was no Offizerskreuz of that order. Photo attached below.
Daniel Krause Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Its the brunswick officers cross. Not Württemberg.

JohanH Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Kapitänleutnant Carl Wilhelm von Haxthausen was awarded with the knight 1st class of the swedish order of the Sword on 26 june 1909. If it is of interest with the correct date.

Unsure. This does look like the Württemberg Crown Order at first glance. The Brunswick Order would certainly make more sense, but I do not see the little crown device as in the one pictured. Kriegsmarine Admiral Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Thank you Pierce. Any guess about the class of the Johanniter-Orden?

BlackcowboyBS Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Number 4 is the Officers cross from Brunswick. Wilhelm v. Haxthausen recieved this decoration in 1914.
