    1. A scarce letter of introduction, signed by Botha as prime minister, to W. Schreiner, the South African high Commissioner in london. it concerns Henry Roydon Tapson who served in the South African army in German South West and East Africa, asking Schreiner to get him into the Royal artillery.
    2. Do you have any researched purple hearts? In the "Themes" forum there is a thread about "the Wounded" and about "KIAs", some good purple heart material is lacking. Some WW1 uniforms in the US section would be great, I cannot find any good info online. there seems to be tunics in 1917 patterm 1918 patterm inner pockets, outer pockets etc. etc. best Chris
    3. No great detail to this shot, but they are 2 silver clasps that were earned the "hard" way. The pilot sank about 7 ships and was awarded the DKiG with just the silver clasp, which is very unusual for a bomber pilot.
    4. I guess there are not many Pokal owners around... I was almost the owner of one, but never quite made the club :-(
    5. Lets see some of the US!! If ever german had to dissapear from the scene, I would go US 1917-45.
    6. From top left 1) Escherbach 1917 Radeberg 2) No maker PP and 6/65 scratched in 3) Painted metal, Silesia 15 4) Wurtt.Met. Fabr 14 5) the one above with the regts.
    7. This is a small parts wallet for the british Vickers machine gun, dated 1915. I cannot say for certain, but 3 things point to a maybe 1) the little inner compartments are removed 2) It has the exact size of the large wallets of the time period 3) It was found in Germany. I cannot say for fure, but I think it was used by a german soldier to carry his "stuff"
    8. I once sold a very early attributed Assman PO to a forum member, I have no idea who it was anymore :-( If he is reading, how about posting it here?
    9. That is indeed a superb one !!!! Here is an artillery one G.B. gave me...
    10. Indeed for the man who likes the "finer" things in life !
    11. Hi, I was awash in a VC, many DSOs, Piles of MCs and a whole lot more. A quick photo of the EK was just an afterthought, did not get any other shots of the german stuff. Best Chris
    12. Indeed it is. The man does not collect german, but wanted one German Battle of Britain group. In the end a Spanish Cross in Gold group with front clasps and EK1 and 2 fell into his lap. He did not even notice the round 3 cross.
    13. This is a big collecting field in itself. If I understand correctly, the colours represent the student association the guys belong to, maybe the badges as well.
    14. Welcome... did you keep the US stuff or flog it off to buy visors? best Chris
    15. OK, for a guy who knows NOTHING about Soviet awards other than they look nice... what os an OPW2 and what does it look like.... You Soviet guys are going like so.... "Code like" .... that the casual reader gets lost ;-)
    16. Naaahh... I dont find it sexy enough to justify the price. Give me another o8 to put on the OTHER side of the entrance hall, then me be a happy boy.
    17. Its not really me in the mask, its a helmet pulled over a glass head..... But does the job for a photo. Aiming in one of those masks must have been hell....
    18. Hi Dan, A nice container, but the one I am on about is just a thin tin one with shoulder loops, about 18 inchas by 18 inches, slightly kidney shaped with a round screw top on the top right hand side.. I wish I could find a photo of one...
    19. This came from the flea market... Pity it was not a CCC one ;-) A heavy chunk of metal !!
    20. Hi, unfortunately lost on an old harddrive :-(
