Canadian Beret
Rogi replied to jonsey2001's topic in Commonwealth Realms: Canada, New Zealand & Australia Medals & Militaria
From the label, it looks like a Catholic Scouts Organization Berret. It looks very similar to the "Four Arrows" Scouts organization here in Quebec. Someone may or may not have sewn that label in.. :S This is all an assumption so wait for an expert to chime in but it definatley resembles scouts I've seen in Quebec :) -

Imperial Russia Unknown Russian Order (possibly a one off)
Rogi replied to paul wood's topic in Russia: Imperial
Very interesting pieces Hmm could it be the artist's own creation? I've seen a lot of artists adjust orders and medals to fit the situation. Could also be something non-Russian but nothing springs to mind Another possibility that it reminds me of, is a Court homage, to say a royal family, custom producers produce similar pieces as to this one that showed the wearers affection towards the Czar. Will be interesting to see what other members say really intrigued by this order :D -
Serbia Order of St. Sava with Brilliants
Rogi replied to Carol I's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
So lucky Thank you so much for the awesome picture If we ever film a Ocean's 11 Serbian style movie, you can bet this will be the piece we'll try to heist lol (do not take this literally people :D ) -

Hmm are you sure that is Huguenin, the Blue dot in the center of the Crown isn't the top one? Or maybe the angle is a bit off :S -

Serbia Serbia Order of St. Sava V class 1883 Huguenin Freres ?
Rogi replied to obi007's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
Here we go for the mark, as you can see, empty (at least as far as I can see atm )It might resemble a figure, but there is usually some type of animal (as you mentioned) inside the actual mark. and a full shot of the attachment: -
Serbia Serbia Order of St. Sava V class 1883 Huguenin Freres ?
Rogi replied to obi007's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
Thank you Farmer I'll make a close up of it hopefully today or tomorrow but the upper hallmark section is blank (near the crown) (sadly I went over it religiously when it arrived The only identification we have for my variant is the other known example in the book (which is a 3rd class) in a Belgium case Brussels, Joseph Piret Jeweler. We can only really stipulate to it either being Pirets or Hugeunin (since it shares similaries to pieces like Obi's that is believed to be from that manufacturer) If you see an alternative hallmark, let me know because that was the only section I could make out :D -

On all these unknown producers, if they do have a punch it is usually blank, that is why they are unknown, the reason for this lack of hallmark could be due to a couple reasons, here is my example for reference, it has a Hallmark indentation but is blank It is from a similar producer (or a later variant of the same production) if you check the book referenced you'll see the similarities :)If we found even 1 or 2 with a hallmark then it might solve the mystery, there are a couple other threads with Obi's St. Sava that can also be used for a reference but so far to my memory none of these has a hallmark (I think Obi's is blank as well, but it would be great if he double checked Here is mine as an example. -
The most peculiar thing for me was how nice the suspension was, its not tampered or soldered. I guess you could clip the sword off and edit accordingly, The thing that worried me about this piece on the side view is that you can't see a side photo to determine if there were arms attached at all originally, the plate covers the portion where swords could be attached, when compared to other Kara George's it isn't this way. As for the crown if it was a soldier's issue originally could explain why there is no enamel on the crown itself. to me there are two options to consider 1. Custom piece from Jeweler who made it on the order of the recipient. 2. Fake or some type of re-hash and reused piece, top and bottom was re hashed off of a type 1 and added to a type 2 with some re-enamelling work. (what we are assuming to be enamel, this could be nail polish for all we know ) The thing with it that leads me to more a 1 than 2 option is that it is done so well. It makes you want believe it is option 1 :D

It looks like a re-enameled first type I've looked at this one a lot the past couple days. It had the slogan of the first type Kara George's, yet mimics the style of the 2nd enameled type Kara George Stars.

Serbia Serbia Order of St. Sava V class 1883 Huguenin Freres ?

The mark in these productions is usually blank So if there is producer hallmark there I would be surprised and intrigued :) -
Yugoslavia Order for distingushed in work
Rogi replied to Richard S's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
Not a lot of info is out there for this one, I believe it is a transition piece. not a lot have been awarded out there. I believe it was introduced in the 1940s just after the end of the war, but other orders and medals took more presidence. -
I believe Clint Eastwood received an Order of the Rising Sun 3rd Class for this film and his portrayal of the Japanese soldiers in it (I also think Nick mentioned this in a previous topic) Foreign version case (with the nice gold inlay style leaves etc)

Named Coast Guard/Navy WW2/Korean War Medal Bar
Rogi replied to Paul R's topic in United States of America
It could be just a fad that they are appearing regularly, sometimes we get a lot of Bravery or Combat Service medal bars hit the market in Soviet collecting. Sometimes it just happens that it is popular that month to sell that certain style were as some other months you could get labor medal bars etc. Only negative is if you enjoy collecting these you have to pick and choose which ones are your favorite vs buying everything out there because when they start to thin out, you won't have as many options and something else will take over the popularity :) -
An Order of Takovo or White Eagle would of gone good with those, now that we are not following the rules in movies
