Hi Chris The man on the photo is a Major ? He did receive the EH3b or a with X before the grade of Major. The knight cross 2nd class with X is for Leutnant and Oberleutant. The knight cross 1st class with X is for Hauptmann. The commander cross 2nd class with X is for Major. I have checked the list and there is no officer from the Leib Regiment who receive the cross.
