    1. Hi gentlemen, had a closer look at this, I assume the genuine article this was produced as a die stamping, looking at the edges, it appears to be in two halves with a seam similar to an EK1, silvery base metal, I concur therefore that it unfortunately a lemon, perhaps you could confirm, before I consign it to the land of trash regards Edit or MAYBE i've discovered a very rare silver gilt version!!
    2. Hi I must admit that I have my doubts about this one, I'll try to post better photo's, the scanner does'nt always produce a good image regards Alex
    3. Hi I've had this in my collection a while, is it real or a fake, any views appreciated regards BTW the ribbom is a replacement Alex
    4. looks totally original to me, that's a lot of ice they're standing on Alex K
    5. Hi demir, welcome, very interesting piece, looking at the back, the pin attachment method looks similar to german methods of the period. I must admit, I've not seen one before regards Alex
    6. Hi Kevin, it's looks like verdigris (Spelling?) a sort of corrosion found on copper or bronze items, not normally on nickel silver or "Neusilber", the material commonly used for the rims on EK's, but I couldbe wrong regards Alex K
    7. Are there any markings on the reverse??? Oops?forget?that?I?didn't?read?all?the?message
    8. Hi difficult to tell from the photo's, is it one piece or three piece construction?, it looks like a one piece casting to me which would indicate no good. the price for a genuine piece does seem low regards Alex K
    9. The beading is certainly Souvalesque, however as pointed out already, pin, clasp etc certainly not, seems familiar to later post war methods of attaching the pin to the back, no dipping 3 in the date either, which suggests that he had at least 2 core dies if it is Souval, Interesting piece regards Alex K Edit, just looked at my genuine Souval, the method of attaching the pin to the rear is the same as that posted. however the pin, clasp and date are different, still even more interesting now
    10. I agree with Ed, it seems to be straying off-topic, my original comments as to it being a summation of a totalitarian state remains confirmed in the above statement,?which?to?my?mind?says? "Do as I say, not as I do", The fact that he was either a Brain box or a numbskull, seems to me to be spurrious. He lived a life completely deviod of anything the people he had immense control over lived. just my ramblings regards Alex k
    11. Just about sums up totalitarian states really! regards Alex
    12. Hi Gordon, a very good point, I must admit that I've never really noticed the size of the swaz on Kriegsmarine badges before, I think you are right that the navy was, if anything the least political of all the TR armed forces and maybe this did have a subconcious effect on the designers. It may be that the navy was a "carryover " from the kaisers time with less indoctrination than the rebuilt army and airforce. regards Alex
    13. Here are some examples of fakes Alex http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=17707
    14. Hi, I wasn't trying to be critical, just puzzled, I was wondering if some may have been?early? pre-war, but as the are wearing cap eagles, that would be unlikely.?I?suspected?that?they?had?been?electronically?removed,?but?never?thoug ht?about?e-bay rules regards Alex
    15. Hi Nice photo's, but any reason why none appear to be wearing Breast eagles? Regards Alex
    16. Oops1 I seem to have quoted the wrong posting!!
    17. and the case
    18. Following on from the thread posted by Kevin, attached my Godet & Son made piece, sadly damaged regards Alex
    19. Hi, There are many postings on this forum about these, many collectors go for the fancy enamelled pieces made by people like Godet & Son of Berlin, BB & Co, (Which I believe was actually an American company)etc as these are quite attractive. These are of course not "Official" Turkish awards but privately made and purchased items, often called "Officer Quality" which is quite incorrect, they were just more popular with German recipients as they were more attractive to wear than the official original turkish pieces which resembled Pot metal castings with red painted obverses. It all depends on your point of view, do you collect the original Turkish examples or the privately purchased German made jewellery?, these were after all made at the time for actual recipients to wear and not fakes in that sense, If you follow the various threads, opinions do differ. regards Alex
    20. Hi Joel, sorry don't know anything about it but I like it, nice find regards Alex
    21. Hi Looks like a nice original, german made item, seems a bit pricey though regards Alex
    22. Hi Harrier, thanks for the comments, Not being in possession of such an award, but longing to have one, any info that helps in not being ripped off is helpful. Regards Alex
    23. Hi I would say yes regards Alex http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...%3Doff%26sa%3DN
    24. Hi Harrier any clues as to why or would that provide further information to the fakers, I must admit at initial glance they look fairly convincing regards Alex
