    1. The faker's throw away line "I am not an expert" Oh dear dear me Paul
    2. I have now discovered that the mark up was somewhat less than I had thought as it was purchased from the E-bay purchaser who made a reasonable mark up itself. So unreserved apologies to Les and co, Paul
    3. Thanks for the info Enzo at least it goes some way to explaining the mystery. Paul
    4. Bucky, It looks as a Julius Keibel non-Christian should with the exception of the bits of green on the suspension and the tip (that maybe due to photography) these were made in the 1860s-1870s.While one cannot be absolutely sure the hallmarks do not look bad, the earlier marks of Wilhelm and Julius Keibel are much better struck than the hallmarks of Albert Keibel and later, the non-Christian eagle looks as it should and not the horrible replacements which one frequently sees. Basically I like it and it is a rare piece. You do not give the width but I assume it is a Third class. Paul
    5. Russel Furtado wrote an article on these medals in JOMSA in 2010. I know, I helped him with it. Paul
    6. My signature vary considerably, very much based on alcohol consumed. Paul
    7. Lars, I am pleased that you were successful in acquiring the piece. A real beautie. Paul
    8. The Prinz Heinrich Fahrt were run from 1908-1911 One of the earliest rally competitons. The Prinz Heinrich medals turn up very occaisionally but I have never encountered the RAC medal. very nice pair. Not sure who G. Goegerlein was. Paul
    9. Are you sure it is not AF for Anton Fuerst as Bertrand is not know for making Orders of Takovo Paul
    10. Radmilo I presume he has not made the orders at least his web site does not show any (apart from earlier pieces). All the best, Paul
    11. Radmilo, Winston Leonard Obrenovich sounds rather cool. Could be Churchill's grandson will claim the Serb throne Paul
    12. Paraguay issued medals for the Battle of Richuelo 1865 (gold, silver and bronze), Cross for the Battle of Corrales 1866 (Silver and bronze), Medal for the battle of Tataiyba 1867 (Gold silver and bronze) Medal for the battle of Tuyuti 1867 (gold with trophy of arms, gold, silver and bronze) and cross for the Battle of Acaiusa 1868 in silver and bronze, illustrations of these medals are available on http://colnect.com/en/medals/list/country/2255-Paraguay All the best, Paul
    13. Alex, It's a type 3 variation 1 issued around September 1943, it certainly falls within the numbers. Paul
    14. I had the good fortune to visit the castle many years ago and as you can imagine there is some pretty amazing kit and an amazing armoury. The museum is well worth a visit. Although if you want a nice evening out cross the border into Austria, Vaduz nightlife is pretty non-existent. Very nice images Carol. Paul
    15. Obviously subject to detailed inspection I can see nothing obviously wrong with HSU. Paul
    16. Jeff, It's the Expatriate's Viking Society. It should be hallmarked Birmingham 1915. I hope this is of help. Paul
    17. At least if you are going to repair an order do it properly or not at all. Paul
    18. There are snippets on the internet including the decree for his award of the Spanish Order of Naval Merit Grand Cross. Paul
    19. Peron, According to Jacob "Court Jewellers of the World" Souval manufactured Greek Orders up to 1940. They didn't really get into Order manufacture in a big way until after the Great War, my feeling is that it is a 1935-40 issue as the order was abolished during the republic of 1924-35. It is a civil award as after 1921 swords were added when awarded to military personnel. I hope this is of help. Paul
    20. I presume an unofficially attached border around the saint. I hope it remains with E-medals for a long time. Paul
    21. An interesting article about the role of the Ethiopians in Korea http://allaboutethio.com/hwkorea.html
    22. According to Car the ribbon is central horizontal blue stripes with a blue horizontal stripe either side and a white border, similar to the Austrian Far Eastern Cruise medal of 1893, the full-sized pieces were manufactured by Rothe Paul
    23. Radmilo, It would almost be worth the buyer finding a Lion and Sun centre and removing the present blasphemy, at least then it would have genuine collector's interest. Paul
