    1. My thoughts too Chris... plus some of the men are smiling. I dont think that they are prisoners at all. They look like victors to me.
    2. I do not think that the Soviet Government would want to commemorate a Czarist war. I could be wrong though. I do not remember any WW1 medals awarded by the Soviet Government.
    3. That is a great book! It looks as if he were wounded out of the military before the war was over.
    4. Very vividly written... Thanks for sharing this timeless group!
    5. Poulton. I am sorry about the bad news. You still have a few nice items there though! I love the commemorative crosses.
    6. This is a US VFW WW1 Veterans Commemorative Medal. A lot of WW1 vets added them to their ribbon bars.
    7. Thank you for sharing those awesome photographs. Their feats must have been very high profile in nature in order to catch the attention of the American commands. Did the British or French ever present awards to combatants in the Soviet Armed Forces during WW2?
    8. I saw a really nice and original 79th Reg Infantry Hauptmann tunic on Ebay last month. This unit saw a lot of action. I will be following this thread. :jumping:
    9. Getting ready to head back to CA for the next six-seven months. :- (

Have you sailed yet? Wishing you smooth seas. I get to stay home instead of going out again. At least for now.

Thanks! We are not going out for a while. I ahve not been around so much because I am working on the ship, taking a few college classes, and working out... that quite literally takes about 20 hours a day. Keeps me out of trouble!

    10. Topic moved to the appropriate area(Weimar/FreiKorps section). Very nice Pre 1933 commemorative medals. Pretty rare to have four of the different ones!
    11. Happy Birthday!! It is still a beauty!
    12. That is a lot of commemorative medals. I heard from someone that commemorative awards were not automatically given to veterans. Can someone shed some light on how they were awarded?
    13. That is a really cool bar. This is the first mini bar I have seen. I do not see too many of their military members in a position to wear minis. He must have been a very high ranking officer.
    14. Thank you for your service over there. I know that it is not an easy tour. I know that the "V" on your ARCOM says it all. Also, I know how the military is about the Purple Heart and certain head injuries. I am confident that you will end up getting your Purple Heart. Your medal bar is the first modern one with a French Medal. Cool stuff. When were you supposed to be advance to SSGT? You are lucky if the Army allows you to advance. In my branch, if someone was on a list to be advanced and they were injured or wounded, their advancement would be placed on hold until or if they were cleared for duty. If they were medical boarded out, they would never see the advancement. The CG's view is that we are being advanced to fill our next billet. There is a specific thread for folks to post their personal awards! Could you please post these there? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9791&pid=434952&st=320&#entry434952
    15. How many of these gold versions were awarded? Are they solid gold or plated?
    16. Thank you for answering my many questions. I have one of the older style orange berets. I really love them as well. They really compliment a uniform display. So just to clarify, your doctor wore the regular Fallschirmjager orange insignia? I would have loved to seen his uniform! Do you remember his rank(Hauptmann or etc)?
