    1. I just received this awesome grouping yesterday! I love it. I have not seen another Military Merit Booklet anywhere.
    2. Wow... it could be possible if he was awarded the 3rd class a second time erroneously. That is cool! I wonder if he ever wore them like that.
    3. Doh!! I should really click on those images to see them full size. My eyes are letting me down!
    4. Thanks for putting things into perspective WC. I have a screwback ORB from Stalingrad that read to me like a much higher award and wondered why. He basically led a recon unit through German lines, opening up a hole big enough for a Soviet offensive to move their lines forward, resulting in a very large gain in the battle. I have seen about a dozen Stalingrad citations over the years, but not many(if any) on Berlin, which surprises me. Maybe just my luck there. I have a very nice Leningrad Bravery Medal grouping coming in with research, which I cannot wait to share with you. It is the only Leningrad grouping I have seen. I have an unresearched five piece bar which has a OGIII and BM, with a Warsaw Liberation and Berlin Capture medal. I cannot wait to see the citations on that group! (pending). I have never seen an order citation of either of those battles, so this is exciting too. As far as Kursk is concerned, I have NEVER seen one(other than the ones you shared). A creme de la creme would be an award to a Soviet tanker!!!
    5. Wow!! You have been busy!!! That glider badge is awesome.
    6. Welcome!! It is great to see you finally make it. I know that you will love it here.
    7. I am guessing... although the tab is for a oberstLtn. The highest level for the Fliegerkorps was supposed to be Major. That tab is a real enigma. It did come with the boards.
    8. Check out the tab in that group... have you ever seen an Engineer tab with a yellow/gold outer piping?
    9. I saw a set of tabs that I wish I would have bought... they were EM yellow tabs with pink outer piping and a small piece of LW Tresse. I had not seen one before or after. I have no doubt that it was WW2, but I have no idea what. The first thing I thought of was Fliegerkorps. The books say that all grades ranged between Leutnant and Major.
    10. I do not have any Kursk awards either. It seems like if I were to pick a particular battle to call the most common for orders to be associated with, I would have to say that Stalingrad would be it. It is an earlier battle that seems to have a lot of award attribution in collections. What do you say?
    11. This is a great thread. Are there any refererence materials on the orders and medals of Niger?
    12. Thank you for sharing these. What was your source?

Keep em coming!! Those are amazing!
    14. Those are some great pics. Those men certainly seem to be well fed. Were some of them "Officials" (Beamte)? Keep the pics coming!
    15. Very interesting!! I have never heard of a LW Mechanical unit before. Can you please post more photos. Also, do you have any Heer photographs of the 236th IR? If so, can you please post them as well? Welcome to the GMIC!!! Paul
    16. Anytime. I hope that you are able to make it a nice centerpiece, which you can pass down to your kids.
    17. Thank you all for this very informational thread. I have leard a lot from this discussion.
    18. The Battle of Belleau Wood?!!? WOW!!!! That is one battle of WW1 they(Marines) drilled into our heads during training. What a cool document. I have not seen a document of the EK1 to a private before. Have you Chris?
    19. Interesting to see a female in a pink waffenfarbe. Were admin personnel and etc assigned to Panzer units issued the pink waffenfarbe, or did she fill a combattant role?
