      New Addition

Kinda slow in the SCW forum, so I thought I'd post a recent find. I've wanted one of these for a while, but current dealer & show prices for this common medal are quite over-inflated in my opinion. But my patience paid off with one at a relative bargain price. I'm now looking for a Red military Service Cross to go with it!
    2. He's in the DLV - precursor to the Luftwaffe (1933-1935). Looks like a nice match to your bar. Scott
    3. On the back where the upper blue fabric folds over the sides; looks like a whitish residue there. Kind of a mute point - they've sold! Scott
    4. Hmmm, could very well be SA/political. I just noticed the white glue residue on the reverse fabric; isn't the old animal glue supposed to age to a amber/brown color? Scott
    5. I saw these tabs on a militaria site, and wondered if they look familiar to anyone. To me they have a Luftwaffe/DLV look; however, they have 90-degree corners. These are the only photos, and I have no idea if they glow or not. Any thoughts? Thanks. Scott
    6. Great picture & blow-ups. Remember, often times old B/W film played funny tricks with colors. What looks dark on the tabs may actually be a lighter color (yellow was notorious for turning up almost black in old B/W film). Scott
    7. A great photo showing one of the myriad of rank configurations worn by the DLV during it's short history. His tunic is interesting too in that it has the button hole on the upper left lapel like a civilian suit coat. Scott
    8. Thanks Gary - really nice set there. Scott
    9. Nice cross. What equivalent of silver does the 'silber' mark represent? 800? 935? Other? Thanks. Scott
    10. Francois, I agree with you 100%. My post above was meant to be humorous - I guess I need work in that area
    11. Period photo of someone wearing one (or more) of the following: - Numbered LW Ground Assault Badge - LW Tank Badge - LW Close Combat Clasp That would stir things up a bit! Scott PS: Great photos by the way - who's the general (FM?) in the dark glasses in post #9?
    12. Nice bit of LW memorabilia Bob - I can see why you held on to it. Scott
    13. This thread is like a heart attack for the eyeballs Amazing suff - thanks for sharing it! Scott
    14. Nice set Gary! Can we have a shot of the matching boards? Scott
    15. What are the measurements of the cross? Scott
    16. According to my references, they were often worn on the neck ties of the Luft female auxillary. Scott
    17. Nice collection Butch Scott
    18. That's not something you see every day. How does it fit in your display case? Scott
    19. Wow Bob - my heart is fluttering just looking at the pictures! Superb group - congratulations! Scott
    20. Paul, I'm not an authority on these by any stretch, but one thing I look for is the stitching quality on the swastika. On the original eagles I've seen, the swastika is symetrical with nice, sharp 90-degree angles and superb attention to detail on the stitching. Your eagle looks fairly good until I get to the swaz, which seems less-well executed than the rest of the eagle. I may be way off base in my opinion/observation. Scott
    21. If what appears to be white "ticking" along the outer edge is actually red (same red as the larger red stripes), then the ribbon is probably ok . Scott
    22. I'd love to have one of those early droop-tails. The pic of the general without the breast eagle on his tunic takes the cake! Scott
