    1. Great group and even greater EK1. That is what you call a 'heavily padded' Ordensspange.
    2. Could we see closeups of the Prussian medal bar and the Austrian one? I have my doubts about the latter.
    3. Great story, Brian. Your friend steered your daughter in the right direction. I have dealt with Barry many times over the years, he's a good guy. Now I just have to get my daughter to bring me such presents.......
    4. Jason, my dad was from Endruhnen, not far from Gumbinnen, so a fellow Ostpreusse. The documents I have are concerning awards given to von Grolman himself. If you would like scans, PM me your email address.
    5. I agree with Sascha, not an 1870-era bar, but something altered in the distant past. I have seen one other EK2 drilled this way, and I think it is real, although a strange one with the crooked core.
    6. Technically, the Flandernkreuz should not be on the bar with the Hindenburgkreuz, as it was an unofficial award post-1934. I like the bar.
    7. Very nice items, gentlemen. I especially like the screwback version and the kettchen.
    8. Jason, sounds like your ancestor must have come from one of the eastern provinces, judging from the last name. I have a couple of documents from the orders commission to von Grolman, I think for the Crown Order.
    9. Very interesting details on a very unknown conflict. I had heard of this war, but wasn't aware that so many Germans were involved.
    10. Hardy, great story and items. I think your grandfather was backing up my grandfather during the assault on Flanders in 1914.
    11. What can you say, except absolutely outstanding piece. The condition is incredible. Do you have an award figure for this piece?
    12. I've been looking for my uncle's Ehrenpokal from 1940 for years now, and hope one day that it will turn up. Of course I would offer to pay fair market value for it. I'm glad that this item has turned out to be the real deal.
    13. Typical example of the award period with lovely core details, congratulations on this one.
    14. Certainly an extremely interesting bar, would like to see the urkunde as well.
