Don is right, there are many legit period copies floating around. Poor details aside, I like the overall look of this one, in particular the suspension ring and frame details. -
Yup, it's overt manipulation of the market by a few fakers, otherwise known as 'the club', in Germany. There is one guy in particular who constantly posts on ebay.com, selling not only Imperial fakes but III. Reich as well.

Here is some info on Floeckher, and a painting of him. This material came from Eric Ludvigsen many years ago, so I'm not sure of the sources for this material.

I think the use of Trapetz-Schnallen was similar to British 'swing-mounted' groups, a question of the individuals' taste. Also, if the medals were removed, it could be employed as a Feldschnalle.
