    1. Scott, that's an interesting bar. I have it's near twin, only mine has the Merit Order Knight's Cross with Swords, while yours has the member's cross, I believe.
    2. Aha, nice to see the Fireman's Long Service Clasp in wear, as I just picked up one of these (thanks, Eric).
    3. Wow, some very interesting things there. I particularly like the Seringapatam medal, which was given for Wellington's first major victory over, I believe, the somewhat crazy Tipoo Sultan.
    4. Igor, I'd love to find a miniature of the medal for foreigners, as I have a mini medal bar (courtesy of Noor) which is missing this medal. I bet it's impossible to find one.
    5. Thanks again Carol, that is useful information. The bar is pre-1895, since there are no oakleaves on the EK and no battle clasps on the KDM. I think you see more Romanian awards on later bars, particularly WW2.
    6. Thanks for the information, Carol, and yes, that is the bar in question. It seems a little unusual to find a Romanian award this early on a bar.
    7. Gentlemen, Thanks to Marc (Flak88), I recently acquired one of the ex-Tony Colson 1870 spanges, which unfortunately I can't post pictures of, but there is a picture in the classified. This spange consists of: 1870 EK 2, 1870 KDM, 1866 Cross, 1861 Coronation Medal, Romanian Gold Merit Medal and Sachsen-Altenburg Silver Merit Medal. I assume this bar is not traceable, but was wondering if there are in existence Romanian rolls for the Gold Merit Medal, and if there were any connections between the King of Romania and any Prussian regiments ie. was he honorary colonel of any German regiments during the period 1870-80? Any help would be gratefully received.
    8. Aaaahhhh, just put my eyes out, please. Don't show me this stuff, when I am in the market for a good St. Henry and can't find one.
    9. I would guess a Prinzen spange, of the type favored by members of the royalty in the latter half of the 19th century.
    10. Windhoek is the capital of Namibia, formerly Deutsch-Sued-West, whereas von Lettow-Vorbeck was leading troops in Deutsch-Ost, now Tanzania. Ludicrous.
    11. I like it, almost looks like the "muffin crown" you see on the blued-core variants.
    12. Thanks, guys. Unfortunately, my scanner is AWOL right now, so I can't post any images. It is silver-gilt, and the maker is Wagner.
    13. Details are not good, and the color is strange. Not to my liking.
    14. Gentlemen, If someone has the award number for the Crown Order commander's cross (second class), without swords, large crown type, I would appreciate the information. I just picked up one of these, and was wondering about the comparative rarity of this item.
    15. Gentlemen, I have a dumb question. If a member of a Schuetzen-Rgt. was awarded the Nahkampfspange in Bronze, would he qualify for the Infantry or General Assault Badge?
    16. Komtur, the other items can be found at emedals.ca. Go to the German States section, I believe it is on page five.
    17. Hey, I don't have anything like that hanging from my lamp.....this is an underappreciated award. I was fortunate to acquire one on a mounted group at a DNW auction last year.
    18. Wow, that is an absolutely stunning Kettchen, congratulations. This von Vollard must be related to the Pour le Merite group general offered over at emedals.
    19. The photo is period, I have an identical one of Trautloft.
    20. Mecklenburg-Schwerin Friedrich-Franz Kreuz 2. Klasse. Seems that this example has a strange finish, as they are usually gold colored.
