    1. Does anyone know which Order of Cespedes Ernest Hemingway was awarded by Fidel Castro?
    2. Hello, Does anyone know if a nominal roll exists for the 818 recipients of the South African Korean War Service Medal? Thank you in advance!
    3. My deepest sympathies to the families and wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded.
    4. There are a lot more on the market now, but they're expensive. In fact, Australian medals in general are quite high in price and I don't think it's just supply and demand either. I think Australians are a very proud people and should be; that goes for New Zealanders too. It's not just for the Vietnam war either, but also Korea.
    5. It's no victory, and the war against terrorism will continue, but it is indeed something that will remind people that they can't hide forever and it's a step in the right direction.

    7. Hi Owain, I've been reading your posts and they are most enjoyable. Thanks for sending me the info. I'll write more later... John Liffiton

    8. This is a wonderful strand and I enjoy reading it and looking at the photos. I've got a medal to a Pte. in the ADP and was wondering if there is a nominal roll where I could confirm the medal and clasp as well as perhaps find out more about the man. How rare are medals to the ADP. I've got another one to a man from another part of the peninsula, Oman, and he was in the TOS. Are those unusual. I worked in Saudi for 13 years and that's my interest, but unfortunately I never made it to Yemen or the UAE. All the best and thanks.
    9. This is a wonderful and historical pair; real museum quality. Thank you for sharing.
    10. I'm currently researching the 1952 POW Olympics that were held in North Korea during the Korean War. Please post what you know. Thanks in advance!
    11. Fantastic group! Congratulations and thanks for showing it. I particularly found the naming of interest. Cheers and congrats!

    13. I'm holding the medal and it's named exactly like this: AW. 550 11. SISIA KESA. E.A.A.W. I haven't a clue as to what AW means or why there is a space between 550 and 11. If anyone can shed light on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know how many AGS were given to local troops more commonly known as "native" troops? Lastly, what do you experts out there regard as the best book to read about the Mau Mau Rebellion? I'd like to read the most comprehensive one that gives good information down to the battalion level if possible. Thanks in advance.
    14. Here's another link about the air war in Kenya with the Mau Mau. http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1954/1954%20-%203063.html
    15. I'm pretty certain it E.A.A.W. is for the East African Air Wing and here's a link to a site that has info on it. It's really interesting. http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1954/1954%20-%203060.html
    16. Yes, that's the one, and you have the same info I have. Again any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
    17. Hi and thank you very much. I was wondering if perhaps the AW prefix to his service number meant "Army Worker" or something along those lines. I don't suspect that there are any records of those men who served in N. Africa or elsewhere, which is a shame, but nonetheless, it's an interesting mounted group. I'll keep digging and thanks for the lead. Happy New Year.
    18. Yes, and his service number has an "AW" prefix. The AGS is accompanied by a '39 Star, Africa Star, Defense and War Medal too. They're all loosely mounted in a "contemporary" style that looks as if it were done by him. Thanks very much guys!!!
    19. It's named to an African. It's odd because in Gordon's (or Spink's now) it's not listed and that's usually a good source on what units were issued the medals. Thanks in advance to all for your help. Cheers,
    20. Does anyone know the meaning of E.A.A.W.? I think it's East Africa ? ? as it's on an AGS with Kenya bar. Thanks in advance. Azyeoman
    21. Remember that all auction houses print lower than expected estimates; much much lower in most cases. I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind it other than to entice people to bid.
    22. Hello Soeren, This is most interesting and I look forward to helping you. Would you please email me or send me an email address I may write? Thank you, John
