    1. Hi Alex, I would not see that as an issue. There were some Generals and high ranking officers who had only the 12 year long service medal and there were even some with only the 4 year medal. Best wishes Matt
    2. Jonas, Many thanks for your assistance. Best wishes Matt
    3. Hello Christophe, That is an impressive ribbon bar and appears to be in great condition. Congratulations on acquiring this treasure. I think you can rule out Generalleutnant Pflugbeil as his medal bar is showing the Wehrmacht 25 & 12 year long service decorations where as the ribbon bar is showing 12 & 4 year long service medals. Best wishes Matt
    4. Gentlemen, I came across this medal. Can someone tell me what it is and what it was awarded for? I recognise Gustav 5th of Sweden but that is all. Many thanks Matt
    5. Gentlemen, I recently missed this gem of a medal bar. The pang of regret has not left me yet as it would have fitted in perfectly with my collecting focus. What Imperial treasures have you missed out on recently? Best wishes Matt
    6. This cross looks good to me. Though I would say it is a bronze example. Best wishes Matt
    7. Dear Gentlemen, Have you ever seen one of these before? I am just curious as to what it is. It looks Prussian. Maybe some sort of Veteran's cross? Thank you. Best wishes Matt
    8. Dear Rudi, Yet another astounding medal bar in your already amazing Hessen collection! Best wishes Matt
    9. Hello Christophe, Great photo! Ribbon no. 6 appears to have a wide white stripe down the middle and it does appear have swords. Would the Waldeck Verdienst-Kreuz 4. Klasse mit Schwertern be an option? Best wishes Matt
    10. I find it interesting that the Red Eagle Order ribbon is missing from this ribbon bar. This Order would have been awarded pre-War so before the Iron Cross. I would expect to see it on the ribbon bar. Could the Red Eagle Order ribbon have been removed or even covered up by the perhaps more desirable Iron Cross ribbon by the original owner? Looking closely at the Iron Cross ribbon it would appear to be mounted on top of another ribbon. I am just thinking outside the box here. Best wishes Matt
    11. Dear Chris, This is great that you have united both items together. I think the ribbon bar is possibly Godet made, judging by the hardware. Best wishes Matt
    12. Great work Don. You have given this medal bar a new lease of life! Best wishes Matt
    13. Welcome to the forum Christopher. I believe this to be an original medal bar mounted for evening or formal wear. The medal bar is for a non combatant and belonging to someone of Officer status. A beautiful medal bar! Do you have a photo of the reverse? Best wishes Matt
    14. I have done some more searching. I knew I had seen this ribbon before. It looks like the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus but that would be highly impossible on this ribbon bar so I am assuming it was the ribbon in stock that was the closest match to the Finnish Liberty Cross. But I think some sort of documented evidence is needed to prove this. Best wishes Matt
    15. Upon closer inspection of the last ribbon on the ribbon bar this is what I can see: Red ribbon with two white stripes at the edge. Anyone know which award this represents? Best wishes Matt
    16. Dear Christer, I found this colour photo of Walter Nowotny. The last ribbon on his ribbon bar is for something foreign but it does not match the Finnish Liberty Cross 1st Class. The Finnish ribbon is red with two thin white stripes near the egde. Some thoughts of my own: the ribbon on the ribbon bar could be a "close enough match" when it was made or maybe someone has misinterpreted this ribbon as the Finnish Order. Best wishes Matt
