Biro
Some of you will already have seen this EK1 marked GODET-BERLIN, but for those who haven't, take a gander at the quality of their workmanship. Why is it that some of the rarest things I own are made of cheap 'synthetic leather'... Chris Liontas
Dumb question, but when a individual won the IC, how did they get something of this quality? Were some awards Godet and some other companies? Or was worksmanship of this quality strictly a private purchase piece...while the awarded cross would be cheaper? hagahr
Dumb question, but when a individual won the IC, how did they get something of this quality? Were some awards Godet and some other companies? Or was worksmanship of this quality strictly a private purchase piece...while the awarded cross would be cheaper? the quality off craftsmanship and material off a regular awarded IC is equal to what ever the private marked could provide . so,,, fore the private marked the trick is to provide something special . in the line off backplates ,hooks ,mousetraps and so on lets say fore the new upcoming demand from pilots ,tank drivers ,balloonists ,U boot´ists and other new units evolving with the murderess techniques off the war sure connecting the private marked early on , to the official army providers off the Cross ,,,,with who ever could pay fore it . and so, come in handy later on , in the after war memorabilia and collector marked evolving in the shadow off the lost war and a new upcoming marked around 1920-30 . pressing on in to the 1940 and to god knows what year . sure a very nice Godet set here . saw it years back on WAF the first time . had a few and sold ( traded) a few myself to, but they stayed strange to me the razor sharp hooks on them as well as the very often almost mint condition these crosses come in made me always´s wonder . but sure the Godet popularity will always´s make these crosses highly desirable and pricey . not to speak about the case´s fore them . it is always´s almost a difficult to upgrade addition in anyone´s collection fore sure . very nice peace's . regards kay Holland verzamelt.nl - 1870/1813 OBSERVATIONS Edited February 19, 2012 by hagahr
