Leutnant d.R. Tauchnitz received the HOH3X on 24.6.1918 while serving in Fliegerabteilung 270 Lb. Unfortunately, there were three Saxon Leutnants d.R. Tauchnitz who served with the Fliegertruppe: Bernhard, Christian (*6.9.1890 in Leipzig-Lößnig) and Stephan (*11.10.1889 in Leipzig, †23.12.1962 in Bad Homburg v.d.H.). I've no idea which one was in FA 270 Lb.  Maybe Gunnar can help.

Bernhard seems most likely, since he had the SH3.

Hptm.a.D. Friedrich Römer in FußAR 12 received the HOH3X on 17.6.1918.

    Hi Dave,

Regarding the Lt dR Tauchnitz in FAA 270, I am also rather convinced that Bernhard is the wanted man. He like many Saxons flyers do not have any BAMA or BA file.

He got an "anerkennung" on 21.05.1918 published in the weekly Kofl 3. An anerkennung nearly always lead to an "higher" award for flying officers. For non-officers it nearly always lead to an extra higher promotion.

For example Johannes Ziegler also from FAA 270 received an anerkennung in 02.1918 which lead to that he received the Hohx on 09.04.1918. Later on Johannes received at least one more anerkennung which meant that he was vorgeschlagen for the PLM.

    Gunnar

According to the Generals' Bios Series, GM Arthur von Briesen got the HHOX as well, not just GdI Kurt von Briesen.

Their information is incorrect. I have reviewed Arthur-Hemann v. Briesen's HPA file. No Hohenzollern.

On the other hand, here is a Wehrmacht general whom we can confirm did have the HOH3X:

Siegfried von Rekowski's WW1 decorations, including the HOH3X, are undated in his HPA file. Here are his later awards:

02.10.1936 Wehrmacht (Heer) Dienstauszeichnung 2. bis 4. Klasse
xx.xx.1940 Wehrmacht (Heer) Dienstauszeichnung 1. Klasse
xx.xx.1939 Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938
    02.10.1939 Spange zum EK2
    09.10.1939 Spange zum EK1
    15.09.1942 Ostmedaille
    02.02.1943 Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber
26.02.1943/05.03.1943 Nennung im Ehrenblatt des Deutschen Heeres
    19.06.1943 Deutsches Kreuz in Gold
    24.12.1943 Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber

     - Dr.jur. (25.7.1907, Leipzig), Rechtsanwalt in Berlin, Landgerichtsrat, Amtsgerichtsrat, 1927 Landgerichtsdirektor, Vorsitzender des Landesarbeitsgerichts Berlin, Vorsitzender des Preußischen Richtervereins.
     - He was still listed as a Landgerichtsdirektor in the 1941 Berlin Adreßbuch, and was still living as a Rechtsanwalt in Berlin after the Second World War.
     - 17.12.1908 Leutnant d.R. des Infanterie-Regiments Nr. 98, ins Feld mit Regiment, dreimal verwundet (1914, 1915, 1916), 22.05.1915 Oberleutnant d.R., 21.04.1918 Hauptmann d.R., Hauptmann d.R.a.D.

     - no other known decorations, although presumably the Verwundetenabzeichen in mattweiß. As a Justizbeamter through at least 1941, he probably also had the Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen.
