Solomon
Folks,I have never seen this type of hinge and needle before...might be a post war repair? Oh noooooo!I?m sorry, but I have to inform you, that exactly this type of the heroic-deeds-cross is a well known fake. You can find these faked crosses often on Ebay, especially one German dealer sells them once a month on Ebay.Sorry for the bad news...but it is definitely not a repaired old one.Best regardsRoman
avadski
No problem! I did not purchase it Thanks very much for feedback anyway.
avadski
Just for the future...what makes it fake (except for the needle)?
Solomon
Just for the future...what makes it fake (except for the needle)?Quite hard to say, you might need some experiences and a good one to compare with...the needle-system is the best way to identify a faked cross, especially when it looks like the shown example.Best regardsRoman
Wild Card
Here is a little fellow from Lippe who stopped by recently to have his picture taken.
Guest Rick Research
Well, THAT simplifies things. There were only THREE recipients:Alten, Theodor von Major, Detmold 30.11.98Krohn, (Friedrich) Eisenbahn Direktor aD, Detmold 04.10.88Petri, (Theodor) B?rgermeister, Detmold 02.08.97 :catjava:
Wild Card
Rick,Thank you very much for this information. I knew that this was a rare award but with conflicting information, I did not realize that it was this rare. Typically, of course you not only have the number, but the names as well - amazing... as always.Do you make this stuff up?Just kidding, Thanks again, Wild Card
Guest Rick Research
:catjava: And if anyone decides to look for the full sized version?Uh... don't waste your time. The TRULY thing about having the Detmold rolls published will be the Awful Reality of the numbers RETURNED. :ninja:
medalnet
And if anyone decides to look for the full sized version?Uh... don't waste your time. The TRULY thing about having the Detmold rolls published will be the Awful Reality of the numbers RETURNED. Well, I was a long time among an elected group of people at an auction in Frankfurt. I remember George Seymour and Eric Ludvigsen being there, too. My very first encounter.that auction had a real sword on ring piece. One out of three

Elvis
Hello medalnet, this decoration looks very very nice.I know the style of the cross with the swords. Germany WW II looks similar.I also can read the wordings, but I did not know what kind of decoration it is.Can you please explain? Thanks

Deruelle
Hi, Nice cross indeed. IN the Schwark book's Orden une Ehrenziehcn des F?rstentums Lippe Detmold, there are only 5 crosses like you have, only 5. And to prove the rarity there is no photo of this cross in this book Christophe
Guest Rick Research
Of what? I still don't have that book. But I did transcribe all the Rolls.
Guest Rick Research
Ahhh, my mistake! I had to go look at the Statutes. I thought Andreas had posted a 3rd Class-- as they later were, not the original form 2nd Class! Yes, there WERE five awarded by Detmold but three of them were returned.*** That, of course, does NOT include the awards ("many more" only by comparison) of identical crosses made then-jointly by Schaumburg. *** The Lippe collectors are going to be amazed when the award rolls are published. ALL will THEN be revealed. :catjava:
avadski
The (fake) one i posted above (post #181) was sold on eBay for 128 EUR by this seller: http://myworld.ebay.de/orehilas321/
