Ed_Haynes Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 (edited) Also - what is a "gold god"???Images of one or another buddha or bodhisattva, as displayed on the traditional "altar" area of the gher, where many display their medals too.The UB rumor mill holds that these awards were "sold North" (as the slang puts it). new world Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Ouch! What's next - Sukhe-Bator for $5,000?William
Bob Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Not entirely the right way to look at it of course but:- 2000 SB's at 2K a piece- 400 Soyombos at 8K a piecefactor 4-5 in volume and inverse also in pricedoesn't sound that unreasonable... it's more the sudden rise in price that surprised me... 3-4K for a soyombo I always found cheap considering the significance and rarity of this award.with SB's heading toward 2.5-3K... I think soyombos will be quickly heading over 10Kam just glad I got mine when I did as I sense that "Soviet collecting times" are comingwho knows of course how much the researchability now has to do with price increases... it's a whole new ball game now
Ed_Haynes Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 And you don't WANT to know the sorts of prices being asked for A2s these days (and we're talking UB prices, not as if that makes much difference anymore)!
Bob Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 And you don't WANT to know the sorts of prices being asked for A2s these days (and we're talking UB prices, not as if that makes much difference anymore)! 20 to 30 USD on eBay

DutchBoy Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 #1: Stunning piece! The one time when that damage might actually improve the value, if it was dropped by the "man" himself....
Ed_Haynes Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 #1: Stunning piece! The one time when that damage might actually improve the value, if it was dropped by the "man" himself....A lot of his awards show damage. Maybe he just had too many??

Ed_Haynes Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) While I cannot at present prove it, I am reasonably certain that this is out friend, wearing his medals. Maybe his button broke the enamel? Under too much stress?? Edited February 7, 2008 by Ed_Haynes
