Claudio
Dear forumites, I'd like to present to newly adquired ribbon bar. The first one, it is named (thanks Christian), the second still unnamed. Feldspange des Oberst Hensel.1.) Preussen: Eisernes Kreuz, 1914, 2. Klasse; 2.) Deutsches Reich: Kriegsverdienstkreuz, 2. Klasse mit Schwertern; 3.) Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten; 4.) Preussen: Kronenorden, 4. Klasse mit Schwertern; 5.) Deutsches Reich: Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer;6.) Preussen: Dienstauszeichnungskreuz für Offi ziere;7.) Roter Adler Orden, 4. Klasse;8.) Zentenarmedaille (1897); 9.)Thailand: Der sehr hohe Orden des Weißen Elefanten; graue Rückseitenabdeckung. 1904 war Oberst Hensel im Feldart. Rgt. General-Feldmarschall Graf Waldersee (Schleswigsches) Nr. 9. May somebody has more information about Oberst Hensel's details in WW2. Thanks in advance for your interest.

Claudius
Great bars Claudio. I had wondered if some of them could be identified. Were you there in person? I have not heard anything since October 20th and had hoped to at least see the realized prices on-line. Regards, Claudius

Daniel Krause
Hi Claudio, nice ones!! And You made a good deal. Hensel used to be mine years ago. Attached are some bad pics which came with the bar. The small Godet is as well very nice!!! ID possible? Yes; easily. Max von Viebahn, 1914 Lt im GGR 1, finished as General der Infanterie in WW2. 1888-1980 Awards as visible on the bar + Russian Stanislaus knight, Turkish half moon, black would badge and Wehrmacht long service 1st class. What is tricky here is, that his Bremen Hanseatic "BH" is mis-listed as "BK" - Baden war aid cross - in the Reichsheer ranklists :-) Lots of greetings Daniel
Claudio
Thanks a lot guys! Thank you Daniel for finding out the recipient of my ribbon bar... Great work! First I thought he must have been a KM officer (black reverse)... Here some info about him: http://www.lexikon-d...ViebahnMaxv.htm He wasn't that much involved in WW2... but he lived very long! 92 years... maybe the stressless job as General der WH in occupied France, maybe in a nice castle sipping French wine... ;-) ciao, Claudio P.S.: I found also a photo of von Viebahn on the internet

Deutschritter
Allow me to summarize for Max Rudolf Fritz Gustav von Viebahn: Imperial Russian Sankt-Stanislaus-Orden, III. Class (RSt3) Iron Cross (1914), 2nd and 1st Class Saxe-Meiningen Cross for Merit in War (SMK) Friedrich Order, Knight 1st Class with Swords (WF3a⚔) Bremen Hanseatic Cross (Bremisches Hanseatenkreuz; BremH/BH) ... sometimes wrongly listed as Grand Ducal Baden Cross for Voluntary War Aid (BK), but this was misprinted in the Ranglisten of the Reichswehr Hamburg Hanseatic Cross (Hamburgisches Hanseatenkreuz; HH) Gallipoli Star (Eiserner Halbmond; TH) Military Merit Cross (Austria-Hungary), 3rd Class with the War Decoration (ÖM3K) House Order of Hohenzollern, Knight's Cross with Swords Wound Badge (Verwundetenabzeichen 1918) in Black Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer Wehrmacht Long Service Award (Wehrmacht-Dienstauszeichnung), 4th to 1st Class Clasp to the Iron Cross (1939), 2nd and 1st Class Sadly, no KVK (1939) to be found.

I have no idea how he was the only family member to receive a Baden WW1 award! Edited May 20, 2023 by saschaw
Deutschritter
What a great info. Yes, GdI Karl Ernst Ludwig Lucian Rudolf von Viebahn was his uncle, as was Generalleutnant z. D. Friedrich Karl Hermann Georg von Viebahn (1840–1915) ... now I am getting unsure. Maybe he did have the Kriegshilfekreuz??? What is strange is, that the Reichswehr Rangliste not only listed it as "BK" in 1924 and 1925, but also in 1932. If it really was a mistake, one would think, that Max von Viebahn would have read and reported the "mistake"? Please let me know, if you happen to find an award for a "Hauptmann von Viebahn".
