What I like the most, besides its provenience, of course, is the fact it combines bravery awards from five different German states, without any commemoratives, jubilee medals, long service awards and such. The Rettungsmedaille am Bande is just the icing on the cake! One minor correction, though: the decoration in last place is from the principality of Lippe (so-called "Lippe-Detmold"), not from Schaumburg-Lippe. No doubt you know this, but others that stumble upon this remarkable thread might not...

jaba1914
Great group Graf. I love the pictures from WW1 in the navy uniform. But he wasn't on the Marinefliegertruppe during WW1. Attached the service record of him from Ehrenrangliste der Marine

Mar. - Aug. 1916 with the Flieger-Abteilung Xanthi. This unit was a combined Army and Navy flying unit before the Army left Xanthi. The signature of Hptm (Army) Hans Arndt who led the unit until Sep. 1916. Happy New Year Alex
jaba1914
It is getting quiet on this thread. Are you all on Ebay spotting the fakes 🙂 Where are all the nice German Navy Aviation items? Here is a small group of Fl.Mech.Ob.Gst. Rudolf Bornemann who served with SFS Chanak. This is the first document for the "Eiserne Halbmond" to a member of the German navy aviation service I ever seen. A small piece of paper but a gem for me.
Stogieman
Good Morning and great item!! Only the second I’ve seen! Back in the day, I bought a group from Detlev to a pilot who fought in Palestine. Had the large folio award document for the TWM but he was an army pilot. Had his award documents for the EK2 and pilot badge as well. Unfortunately no images still. Nice find!! Congratulations!! Stogieman
Almost forgot! When Rick Research looked into the group I had he said my guy was one of the pilots you saw zooming over the dunes as depicted in Lawrence of Arabia! Can still see his portrait in my mind with his EK, Pilot Badge and sporting a nifty moustache!! lol!

Literally thousands of pieces and I had images of everything and now it’s all gone!!
VtwinVince
That was an iconic scene in that movie. And your VU for the Halbmond is really great Alex.
jaba1914
Fl.Ob.Mt.(B) Paul Krauthoff at SFS Flandern 1. This picture was taken on 1918 after he was awarded the Eisernen Halbmond for his service at SFS Varna.
