For Research Trying to ID a Luftwaffe officer

Hi guys,

I'm hoping that this Luftwaffe Oberst will be identifiable via his medal bar.

Can anyone confirm what medals he is wearing?

 

There is a reasonable chance that he became a General....

Nice photo. He's got what looks like a Lippe house order in second spot or possibly a Reuss Honor Cross, and an Italian Crown Order at the end.

Since the decoration in the second position can't be clearly determine all I have to go on is the Italian Crown and Luftwaffe long service. I do not find a match.

Could the second one be Lippe-Detmold Honour cross but with swords? the third is the Ehrenkreuz fur Kampfer I think

I tried several different possibilities for the second award and the two LSC or Italian Crown and no luck.

Did you also try with Waldeck? I'm 99.5% sure he's wearing a WVK4X...

I agree with Sascha here. Although both these orders have a star as a medaillon (which can be rather difficult with unclear photographs), there is still the ribbon. I do not believe the ribbon on the second medal to be red. In my opinion, it is white, which would point to a decoration from Waldeck.

Dear forumites,

I’m also with Sascha and Laurentius here: the second order should be a Waldeck 4th class Verdienstkreuz (only 596 Verleihungen). Therefore there are good chances of this bar to be ID’ed.

No luck on the Waldeck and Luft or Heer long service.

Another photo of this same officer just came up on fleabay, and he's ID'd on the back as Oberst Wickard, Regiments-Kommandeur.
